Okay lemme take a stab at this!
Something has landed?
Something good has landed?
Is that a stork?!?
I get it: we're pregnant with a top transfer!
Let's go Johnnies.

Texas Tech ? You mean like Heron could be getting the Ball into Owens in the low post ? Maybe Tarik is lobbying for him ? Probably , no on the first question as Tarik rarely set up in the low post . And, it’s not far fetched to think Tarik might like Heron on his new team and not his old team . But, who really knows what goes on in Recruiting Circles .

Glad to see...let's hope for immediate eligibility. Our potential miracle is in the NCAA's hands.

Senseless, he’ll be a Johnny & time to let Tariq shots go. Moving on.

Per our friends over at the Boneyard:

"From what I understand the general rule is 100 miles. Also keep in mind that the NCAA is going to vote this summer on adopting new rules where anyone with above a 3.0GPA can transfer with immediate eligibility. He is well above a 3.0."

:)

Of course, being a Johnny fan and always expecting the worst, when I first looked at the picture I thought it was a heron taking off - LOL!

All good.

If we landed Heron, and he is eligible does he immediately become our best player over Ponds? Or would it be Ponds and him as 1A, and 1B? Both are great college players just interested in where Heron would fit in the pecking order.

Three guard offense to include Simon, no doubt.

From what I've researched, he had a great freshman year shooting something like 42% from 3 but then dropped a bit to around 35% (could be wrong just ballpark) his sophomore year. He's known to be more athletic and better defensively than Ponds from what I hear. Ponds may be the craftier scorer. Heron maybe more balanced on both sides.

Two great college players, just like Brunson and Bridges for Nova. No reason imo to try to say who is better, bring different skills to the table, one was first team all BE, the other second team all SEC.

A very nice “problem” to have!

The key is MH would add size & strength to the equation. Dixon playing alongside Ponds would not add that dimension. Heron would complement Ponds nicely. In an era of guard play with “long” players, this lines up well with what many good teams bring to the table imo.

If it happens and he gets the hardship waiver starting lineup next season:

Ponds
Simon
Heron
Clark
Keita

With Dixon and Figueroa first two off the bench. On paper, could be best looking team we've had in close to 20 years.

80% FT as well, known for getting to stripe. Also scored 20+ in 7 games last year.

Yep, also the SEC has 14 teams and more one and done caliber players, with UK and the recent recruiting of schools like Auburn, Missouri, Bama, LSU, Florida, etc. So being AP All Second Team is a really big deal.

I'd take a proven talent like Heron over an unproven high school talent. Heron's a five star who already proved he belongs.

All that said, Ponds and Heron will both probably perform similarly, with maybe a slight edge to Ponds. I'm just thrilled this is even a question, as yesterday morning it was looking like we wouldn't have either.

If he's eligible, St. John's will have the best starting 5 in the conference.

Here is my guess:
Clark
Simon
Figueroa
Heron
Ponds
Dixon and Keita 1st two off bench
