2017-18 Transfers
It's down to Us, Uconvict, or Yale. I have it on good authority. :D
Let's hope the Yale lacrosse team winning the national title yesterday doesn't give him hope the hoops team can do the same!

Please save me the time reading the last 12 pages .....

Why may Heron be eligible for a waiver to allow him to avoid sitting out next season after a transfer.?

Thanks.

Keita just tweeted that emoji with the mouth zipped shut. I have no idea whether this relates to Ponds, Heron or if he farted in a crowded elevator, but I thought I'd pass it along, seeing as though I have no life and all.

Wasn't Heron's father close with Slice? Given that, I'm not so sure he'd want to commit to Mullin at this point. Since he's a Waterbury kid, UConn might be the more attractive stop for him if he decides to transfer ... but love to land him.
St. Johns is not that much further from Waterbury then the UConn campus
And fan5577 resides in that area.
At least we are in the discussion.

We shall see!

Chaperoned a fifth-grade field trip and left without logging in this morning, come home at 3 p.m. and start seeing Heron's name. Pretty insane.

Keita over Figueroa?
Are you mad?
If dreams come true, I can't imagine any scenario that didn't have Ponds, Heron, Figueroa, and Simon in the starting lineup. Although it wouldn't be a dream come true for Clark, who'd be playing center. On the other hand, it would be a dream come true for Marillac, because Simon would be our PF.

Not quite what Dixon and Keita signed up for, but I'd honestly have Final Four dreams. That would be a crapload of firepower.

Great get if we can land Heron. But if no big man they are one injury away from another blown season. Anyone on the radar ?

Certainly dancing hard and long.
Dreams are free for fanatics.

Assuming we sign Heron we have no more scholarships unless Shamorie doesn't return. As much as I would have liked to see us have one more big, we are a thousand times better off with Shamorie.

Didn’t Heron think about transferring to us last year? Don’t get me wrong, I’m elated by the prospect. But it seems such a strange move for a kid that was contemplating going pro this year.

What’s his rationale for transferring? He played for a tournament team and was the man. These are strange times indeed.

Hearing Friday arrival
This isn’t a dream? Wonder what it means regarding Shamorie? And no word about ‘immediate’ eligibility or sitting out I guess?
Told he will apply for waiver to play immediately & if that outcome is unsuccessful he is prepared to sit a year. We’ll have to wait until that determination is made. When that is, who knows.
Wow, thanks Paultz! An incredible ‘interesting item’!
Also stunned, we’re his chosen option and not Darth Vader’s school in his home state!
Rumor has it he considered transferring here last year. Apparently Matt has a good relationship with he & his family.
Your last sentence is really interesting. MaybecSlice didn’t have the type of relationship we all assumed.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Googled the NCAA’s hardship rule and found they denied Khari Harding’s 2015 request to be immediately eligible to play football for Tulsa upon transferring from Auburn.
Khari’s dad was suffering from cancer.
Wondering now if the ‘optimism/expectation’ that Mustapha Heron will be immediately eligible to play is well-founded or merely high-hopes.
Que sera sera.
Per CBS' Gary Parrish: Auburn’s leading scorer, Mustapha Heron, is transferring. I’m told he’s likely to get a hardship waiver to play immediately — and that UConn and St. John’s are considered the leaders to enroll him.
any speculation on the basis for hardship waiver.

The waiver was really out of control -- kids should not be transferring home because an aunt has a chronic but treatable condition.

I'm sure the NCAA has a secret list of what will be approved and what won't: If Heron's mom has something like diabetes, as serious as it can be, I think the waiver is denied. But if his mom has something like cancer or ALS, then we see him immediately, which is of course simultaneously great and absolutely sucky.

Reports of Pitt, Maryland, UConn (we knew), BC, etc. getting involved in last few hours aggressively. Now that Ponds is back this just seems way too good to be true. Please basketball gods just give us a miracle once. We've suffered enough.

But he’s claiming hardship so his mom can see him play. That would seem to eliminate MD and Pitt. BC is farther than St. John’s.
Darth Vader’s school closer by a little.
Maybe, just maybe, our time for a miracle Mike?
