21-0 run to end the game. That was unreal. Good job by Minnesota last night though winning at Iowa (an 8 seed according to lunardi) they looked good. February run in the cards for them? If they could win enough games to get to top 50 RPI it would be huge for us

FWIW, the 'pope' said we need to finish .500 in league play to make the tournament.

That could be true but this year the Big East is a top 5 conference and hopefully St. John's steals a couple of away games.

Pitt beat UNC
Temple all over east Carolina

The most help we got today regardless of the results today was winning ourselves!

Biggest game is providence/ seton hall. the friars can push into 6th place and right there with Xavier. 5th place in BE all the sudden looking very possible,

Cincy falling off ?

@JonRothstein: Jonathan Stark buries a 30 plus footer as Tulane beats Cincinnati. Bearcats have now lost to the Green Wave and ECU in the last two weeks.

Also a big win by former opponent Tulane

@GoodmanESPN: Georgia losing at home to Auburn hurts, but Bulldogs still firmly in tourney as of now. Cincy losing to Tulane puts Bearcats right on bubble

Louisville over NC State
Florida over Texas A&M
Providence over seton hall
UTEP over Old Dominion
Oregon over UCLA
Fresno State over Boise State
Eastern Carolina over Temple
San Diego State over Colorado State

We got a few of these:

SDSU beat Colorado State
Fresno State beat Boise that's big for us
UTEP smacked Old dominion by 15
Providence won against seton hall

On the other hand

Pitt and NC state both got huge wins today, with their SOS they will make a case to take a bid.

Oh, and somebody tweeted to lunardi about us and he said this

@ESPNLunardi: “@Geeter_Tweeter: @ESPNLunardi still think St. John's isn't making the tournament? #sjubb” Huge win. Long way to go.

Seems like the ranked ACC teams were throwing games today to their bubble teams.

UNC definitely looked like they just threw Pitt a bone

It was mentioned by someone in another thread that Xavier might not be considered a good win by the committee.

It absolutely is a good win. It's a road win against a Top 50 RPI team..something that Bubble Teams usually run short on. This is our second one. There are only about 5 teams in the country that have more than 2. No one has more than 4. And only about half of the RPI Top 50 have even as many as two. Several of the RPI Top 50 have none. So, a road win against an RPI Top 50 is ALWAYS a good win. There is still much work to be done, but this was a big step forward.

Correct as always.
Xavier is still ahead of us.

From this point forward every win is a good win because we need a few more. But, anytime you win on the road against a top 50 team, it is a very good win. So whoever said this was not a good win is either clueless, not a fan or just trying to stir things up on here.

Our resume got a nice little upgrade yesterday. Take care of business at home for the rest of the season and these kids are dancing.

42 after yesterday's win. Somehow Xavier is still ahead of us at 41

I know many are stuck on W/L record, since years ago that was seemingly a primary factor. On first glance it still gives a quick indication, so it's strange seeing Xavier with 10 losses and still ahead of us, and also still firmly in the tournament.

However, when you look down the top 50 RPI teams, most have a decent amount of losses. In fact, if you look from 20 RPI and above, you'll see alot of 7, 8. 9 and even 10 losses. I feel like it was a lot different years ago. I think this is a good example of how the gap between the majors and the mid majors has closed some.

Some results we could use today

Thanks for this daily, it makes it easier to follow when knowing who to root for

Wisconsin took care of Illinois

Iowa is about to go on the bubble if they lose to northwestern. Northwestern leads 36-32 with 11 minutes left.

This could open up another spot in the field for us to take

I appreciate you listing the bubble teams Jack and it's fun rooting against them but while fun at this point I feel it's useless since there's so much season left. Hard to get excited when there's hundreds of bubble games left. However, rooting for Minnesota is big. They've improved their RPI to mid 70's and have a chance to become a quality win. I hope St. Mary's, Syracuse, or Minnesota really step up the next few weeks. We could use a big OOC win.

Minnesota only 3 point underdogs today. They are better than their record. Check out how many close loses they have.
