I'd love to be the 7 seed in that bracketBack at an 8 today with Joey Brackets. Still playing in Charlotte with UVA looming

When will Lunardi fess up and admit he was wrong at SJU?

I agree there is a big drop but I wouldn't say they are so weak. Some very dangerous teams there. I like Maryland, Utah or Notre Dame over Kansas. OK is one of those teams that looks great and then not so much same with Utah. I do think both MD and Utah have the potential to make deep runs. Not mentioned but Louisville is also still dangerous. I don't think they'll go deep but there defense is enough to take out any of those teams except Kentucky or Wisconsin. They might end up screwing up a lot of brackets.

I think Iowa State is really tough as well.
The elephant in the room is the UCONN Huskies.
They are playing much better lately, and the AAC tournament is in Hartford this year. No reason they can't ride the home crowd to a championship there, and steal a bid from somebody. We've seen them twice in the past ride a nice conference tournament run all the way to a national championship.
While I doubt they could do that again this year (with Kentucky in the way), who's to say a nice NCAA tournament run is not possible? It's a stretch, but since they've done it twice before, it's not much of one.

From Bubble Watch:
We've got to admit: We did not see St. John's coming. If you'd told us a month ago that we'd be locking up the Red Storm at any point before Selection Sunday, we would have politely informed you that the Bubble Watch doesn't cover the NIT. From Dec. 31 to Feb. 3, the Red Storm went 3-7, lost to DePaul, Creighton and (pre-collapse) Seton Hall, let a home game against Duke slip through their fingers, and generally looked like the kind of talented but disjointed outfit that costs coaches with just one year left on their contracts -- in this case, Steve Lavin -- their jobs. Since then, the Johnnies are 7-1, including a convincing win at Marquette Wednesday that eliminated any and all bad-loss potential from the regular-season schedule. On Saturday, the Red Storm go to Villanova, where a win would be insane and a loss doesn't matter. They've swept Providence and Xavier, beat Georgetown handily on Feb. 28, and are playing their best basketball at the best possible time. Believe it or not, the Johnnies are a lock.

I love looking at the bubble watch and seeing that St John's logo in the locks column...so sweet!

I just checked out the bracket that Lunardi has up there now, and I am starting to think that this game tomorrow is really important. If we lose the next two games, we are most likely looking at a 9 seed, which plays the 1 seed the second game. If we were to win tomorrow, we could be looking at a 6 seed which has a much easier road to the sweet 16.
