2015 Bracketology

I feel like we are at the point where we can be seeded anywhere between 6-10 depending on if we finish 2-2 (L @ Nova, 2 BE Tourney wins). Or 0-2 moving us to a 10

Back at an 8 today with Joey Brackets. Still playing in Charlotte with UVA looming

When will Lunardi fess up and admit he was wrong at SJU?

I like that bracket. UVA is probably the best #1 seed for us to match up with (other than Nova). I don't think Kansas is a great team this year. Even more so now that Cliff Alexander is out. The only fear I have is the possibility of facing the mighty Iona Gaels.

The current #1and #2 seeds:
Kentucky
Wisconsin
Virginia
Kansas
Nova
Arizona
Duke
Gonzaga

The current #3 and #4 seeds:
Iowa St.
Wichita St
Oklahoma
Utah
Baylor
Notre Dame
Northern Iowa
Maryland

BIG difference. Much more likely to get to second weekend through the 3 or 4.

Get that #6 seed! We gotta be close...

JacStorm, that is so true. Beyond the top 8 the rest of the teams are so weak. If we could somehow get to a 6 line our chances for a sweet sixteen run would be notably higher, which is why I'm against sitting our guys against nova especially when some of them (Harrison) look fine

I agree there is a big drop but I wouldn't say they are so weak. Some very dangerous teams there. I like Maryland, Utah or Notre Dame over Kansas. OK is one of those teams that looks great and then not so much same with Utah. I do think both MD and Utah have the potential to make deep runs. Not mentioned but Louisville is also still dangerous. I don't think they'll go deep but their defense is enough to take out any of those teams except Kentucky or Wisconsin. They might end up screwing up a lot of brackets.

I think Iowa State is really tough as well.

The elephant in the room is the UCONN Huskies.

They are playing much better lately, and the AAC tournament is in Hartford this year. No reason they can't ride the home crowd to a championship there, and steal a bid from somebody. We've seen them twice in the past ride a nice conference tournament run all the way to a national championship.

While I doubt they could do that again this year (with Kentucky in the way), who's to say a nice NCAA tournament run is not possible? It's a stretch, but since they've done it twice before, it's not much of one.

They certainly have enough talent to make getting a bid plausible in your scenario.

I could see them winning their conference tourney but I think if we played them that we would beat them senseless

If anything our late run now kind of reminds me of Uconn gelling last year at the end

From Bubble Watch:

We've got to admit: We did not see St. John's coming. If you'd told us a month ago that we'd be locking up the Red Storm at any point before Selection Sunday, we would have politely informed you that the Bubble Watch doesn't cover the NIT. From Dec. 31 to Feb. 3, the Red Storm went 3-7, lost to DePaul, Creighton and (pre-collapse) Seton Hall, let a home game against Duke slip through their fingers, and generally looked like the kind of talented but disjointed outfit that costs coaches with just one year left on their contracts -- in this case, Steve Lavin -- their jobs. Since then, the Johnnies are 7-1, including a convincing win at Marquette Wednesday that eliminated any and all bad-loss potential from the regular-season schedule. On Saturday, the Red Storm go to Villanova, where a win would be insane and a loss doesn't matter. They've swept Providence and Xavier, beat Georgetown handily on Feb. 28, and are playing their best basketball at the best possible time. Believe it or not, the Johnnies are a lock.

I love looking at the bubble watch and seeing that St John's logo in the locks column...so sweet!

Same here haha. Doesn't get any better than that

I wouldn't be shocked to see Utah as one of the final eight teams.

I just checked out the bracket that Lunardi has up there now, and I am starting to think that this game tomorrow is really important. If we lose the next two games, we are most likely looking at a 9 seed, which plays the 1 seed the second game. If we were to win tomorrow, we could be looking at a 6 seed which has a much easier road to the sweet 16.

I'd be happy with a 6, 7, or worst case 10 or 11. Don't really want to play a number 1 seed the first weekend.

PS just looked and I'd love to play any of the 3 seeds.

Lunardi isn't the best picking the seeds. I wouldn't put too much weight into it.
