2015 Bracketology

Syracuse is so useless. They look atrocious against UVA and aren't trying.

If Syracuse and Minnesota didn't fall off the map we may have already clinched a berth.

Virginia plays great defense and Syracuse can't shoot. They just cut it to 10. Maybe they can make a run.

Their intensity is up since when I posted that but UVA really went on a run earlier and Syracuse didn't look like they were trying to get rebounds. Now it's probably too late.

The one year we root for them and the one year they won't finish top 50.
They are playing five players against the number two team in the country. Not a good match.

True, but you have to wonder if the post season ban has limited their efforts. I do think the injuries are a bigger part but to be quite frank if I was a player there with no chance at the postseason I think it would affect my intensity at times. Not the fault of the players but rather the program.

Texas defeats 14th-ranked Baylor in overtime, to get back on the bubble. There was a big fight during the OT period, leading to six ejections

This was pretty much a must win for them and they got it. They've still got a lot of work to do.

They quoted Lunardi on the broadcast saying that a Texas win would jump them all the way to first team out. So yes, they have work to do, but they are right there.

Under "Teams that should be in"

St. John's [20-9 (9-7), RPI: 31, SOS: 35] On Feb. 3, St. John's lost at Butler 85-62, and the whole St. John's thing -- talented and occasionally impressive but just maddeningly inconsistent and disappointing -- looked like the defining theme of a once-promising season. And then, all of a sudden, St. John's started winning. First, it was Creighton and DePaul at home, which didn't really get the blood pumping. A Feb. 14 win at Xavier followed, and after a blowout loss at Georgetown Feb. 17, the Red Storm won three straight, including another over the Musketeers and Saturday's 81-70 win over the Hoyas. And now? Five top-50 wins (including sweeps of Xavier and Providence), 9-7 records in conference play and against the top 100, totally solid RPI and schedule numbers, and few genuinely bad losses. (Even the loss at DePaul looks forgivable, given the Blue Demons' 6-6 league start.) All of a sudden, St. John's is a long shot to miss the tournament, not the other way around. February went by in a flash.

Teams I want to avoid in a second round matchup - Kentucky, Virginia, Wisconsin, Arizona

I'd be fine with playing anyone else. My dream is to get a 7/10 with the 2 seed being kanas. I really want to play Kansas

I want to play as many ACC teams as possible. I hate that conf so much, and think they are the most overrated conf in history. Also I love to make jokes about toothless rednecks who love NASCAR, so its really a win-win.

My new name for ND is the Fighting Northern Irish, because the ACC would never let a catholic school in. They are the most Anti-catholic conf in the entire country. ND sold its soul to go there.

What to root for tonight:

Butler vs Georgetown 7 PM
Dayton vs Rhode Island 7 PM (Dayton, would knock Rhode Island off bubble)
Iowa vs Indiana (Iowa, could knock Indiana off bubble)
Ole Miss vs Alabama 7 PM (Alabama)
NC State vs Clemson 9 PM (Clemson)
Kentucky vs Georgia 9 PM (Georgia)
Texas A&M vs Florida 9 PM (Florida)

Why does this matter anymore? We aren't on the bubble.

I hate the idea of playing Duke the first weekend...in North Carolina.

Lunardi is more of a seeding guy. The regions are very much in play.

As much as they deny it, the Committee likes good story matchups like Pitino vs Masiello or Pitino vs Pitino.

Not sure they would try to pit a potential rematch with SJU and Duke.

If Nova is a #1 or #2, no way we'll be in their bracket for a possible 4th matchup (2 reg. season, 1 possible BE tournament game).

Same goes for Gonzaga.

I think we'll more than likely be put into UK's region in the Midwest.

Agree on all fronts except Georgia. Would rather UK win and knock Georgia down a few pegs considering their resume is very similar to ours

I totally expect Wichita St. in Kentucky's region for that reason. Kentucky ruined their undefeated season last March, so revenge storyline will be in play.

I had those 7 games as well, only thing is I'd go with Rhode Island. I have Dayton 1 spot behind SJU.
I'm look at seedings, trying to avoid the 7-10 matchups as well. I rather avoid a 2seed in the 2nd rnd. I want a 6th seed or better.

I agree, go UK.
And one other ohio @ Buffalo 7pm ohio
Buffalo is only a couple sports behind sju, again for seeding purposes

Buffalo is not even a bubble team at this point. They have a good rpi but that's it

It's fun to talk about. :)
