2015 Bracketology

Unless we're facing them, I'll be rooting for Nova. Would be nice to see the BE get a 1 seed AND 5-6 teams in. Couldn't have a better season for a 10 team league.

We've won 7 of 9 and it seems like our RPI has barely moved.

Tough to move much at this point I the season

That's the good news. I didn't think 9-9 (if that were to happen) would get us there, but sweeping Xavier and Prov and splitting with Gtown has got to be enough.

To me, far more important at this point is entering the tourney injury-free.

Fwiw, Gary Partish, who really liked SJU early in season, shows us a little respect in his top 25 plus 1;

I was waiting on this. Not that AP ranking really matters, but it would be cool to jump back in.

I don't think we will be in this week but we'll be getting votes. Obviously if we beat Nova and Marquette this week we'll be in next week, probably top 15-20.
After our previous experience being ranked, I can live without it. In fact, I think the team plays better when they think they need respect.

im sorry but how in the world does smu have an rpi of 17- 20 going into this UConn game....I don't get it...I look at their schedule and it makes no sense to me...ok they played at Gonzaga and Indiana...and lost both.....but what do I know....

Pitt just lost to Wake Forest which pretty much pops their bubble. I'm heartbroken. ;) Great to see the 3 ACC bubble teams (Miami, Pitt and NC State) all lose this weekend.

What to watch for today. Going to start including teams close ahead up us for seeding purposes, as well as the bubble matchups which could push teams further behind us:

UConn over SMU 2 PM CBS
Wisconsin over Mich State 4 PM CBS
Stanford vs Oregon (toss up, both are on the bubble as 11 seeds in Bracketology) 7 PM FS1
Wake Forest Over Pitt 6:30 PM ESPNU
Ohio State Over Purdue 7:30 PM BTN
Washington State over UCLA 9:30 PM FS1

Also Providence is playing home vs Marquette. Has Big East tourney implications.

Very good day for us. Got pretty much all of the results we needed that help us

Sometimes I really don't get this RPI bs! I have seen teams with worse strength of schedules and a worse record be ranked significantly higher than the other team. If you have a worse record against worse teams how can you be ranked higher and I don't buy who you beat cause than you must have had some bad losses to offset.

@Coach_Rick57: NCAA RPI Rank 3-2-15
Big East (6 teams in top 50)
3. Villanova
22. Providence
23. Butler
24. Georgetown
37. St. Johns
41. Xavier

The nice thing is, it's the same middling teams hovering in the last four in, first four out, next four out category. Not as if a team coming out of nowhere is making a huge run. If anything that team would be A & M who we are paired with fwiw

Moving on up! Although I do not for the life of me understand how we are an 8 seed. IMO we should be a 7, and NO I don't think that's nitpicking

Our RPI on the NCAA site is mid 30's, so an 8 seed makes sense (8X4=32). Of course I hope we avoid the 8 seed when the actual bracket comes out. Playing Duke in Charlotte? What a joke.

I think our resume is way better than Xavier's because of our record against them. they are a fellow 8 seed. And I also think we have a better resume than Mich State and Ohio State who have 2 or 3 decent wins and that's it.

Xavier does better in advanced stats because they lost a LOT of really close games (including the ones vs. us). Their win/loss record isn't great but they lost 3 OOC games by a combination of 8 points and a few BE games in OT.
