2015 Bracketology

Francesa , as usual, with no clue. Just said STJ needs 1 more win to go dancing. 1 more win- that would be ending the season 1-3 and in the NIT.

Well Lunardi said that too (in reference to Georgetown game anyways). It's very possible, but by no means a guarantee. We'd be right around 50 rpi.

So we beat , say Marq, and lose to Gtown, Nova and 1st round of BE tourney and still get an at large?

would have to eat jello that sunday dinner for fear of choking

Bronx Pale Ale jello I assume Mike. :)

Butler is one game ahead of us.

We should care more about conference standings that RPI when we're talking about BE teams.

How do you figure?

Butler 10-5, SJU 8-7. That's 2 games behind, plus they swept us so they have the tie breaker.
We're not catching them in the standings

You're correct. I was looking at the wrong number.

Our rpi would be right around 50 under that scenario according to rpi forecast. As Paultzman just alluded to, obviously that's not an ideal route and I wouldn't be surprised either way if we made it or not. If we win two games then we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Exactly, we need two - unless the one we do win is at Nova , then we would still sweat.

It is time to get this done. Looking forward to seeing the seniors at the garden tomorrow.

If SJU beats G-Town then I won't even be worrying about other games.
Here's hopefully the last time I'm posting other games to eye.

We've got some favorable results already today.

NC State lost to a BC team with an RPI around 170, we should pass them.
Miami lost to UNC, pushing them further down the bubble
Oklahoma State took a bad loss to Texas Tech, we may pass them
Ole Miss was an 8 seed and lost to LSU, who was a 10 seed
Seton Hall won, we need their RPI to remain under 100

BYU up 7 at Gonzaga with under 3 minutes to go, and headed to the line for 1 shot.

If they hold on, they will pretty much have punched their ticket.

Final: BYU 73, Gonzaga 70. WOW!

This was in Spokane, too.

What to watch for today. Going to start including teams close ahead up us for seeding purposes, as well as the bubble matchups which could push teams further behind us:

UConn over SMU 2 PM CBS
Wisconsin over Mich State 4 PM CBS
Stanford vs Oregon (toss up, both are on the bubble as 11 seeds in Bracketology) 7 PM FS1
Wake Forest Over Pitt 6:30 PM ESPNU
Ohio State Over Purdue 7:30 PM BTN
Washington State over UCLA 9:30 PM FS1

Also Providence is playing home vs Marquette. Has Big East tourney implications.

@Coach_Rick57: NCAA RPI Ranking 3-1-15
Big East (6 teams in top 50)
3. Villanova
21. Providence
23. Butler
24. Georgetown
36. St. Johns
39. Xavier

36? I expected higher than that. Maybe because most our opponents lost yesterday (including the lower tier ones).
