2015 Bracketology

What to root for tonight:

Butler vs Georgetown 7 PM
Dayton vs Rhode Island 7 PM (Dayton, would knock Rhode Island off bubble)
Iowa vs Indiana (Iowa, could knock Indiana off bubble)
Ole Miss vs Alabama 7 PM (Alabama)
NC State vs Clemson 9 PM (Clemson)
Kentucky vs Georgia 9 PM (Georgia)
Texas A&M vs Florida 9 PM (Florida)

Agree on all fronts except Georgia. Would rather UK win and knock Georgia down a few pegs considering their resume is very similar to ours

Right, that Georgia pick was a typo. Kentucky winning would be better

Big win for Iowa at IU. Indiana had a lot more to lose than Hawkeyes had to gain and they looked pretty crappy. IU look extremely bubbly now

I watched most of the Kentucky game and once again came away unimpressed. Their offense is pretty weak and relies on offensive rebounding. Their defense is solid. Georgia blew this game more than Kentucky won it. Georgia was up 6 and turned the ball over on a drive. They then fouled Kentucky giving them an and one. Uk missed the FT but got the board and dunked it home resulting in basically a 6 pt swing,

Right but how many offensive rebounds would they get against our undersized team? It wouldn't be pretty

Jack, where did I talk about us vs. them? I talked about them in general not how we would matchup.

Georgia really tightened up at the end and made some bad decisions... Kentucky took advantage of nearly every one. A Aron harrison really stepped up at the end for Kentucky

This is a bracketology thread, we are a projected 8 seed and they are a 1. This is a St. John's basketball board. I thought you were alluding to us being able to be beat them. I guess not

Calling UK's defense solid is like saying Kate Upton has a decent rack. They're bored and they seem to only play when they have to right now. I would never want to see them in the tournament. I would salivate at the chance to play Duke, Gonzaga, or Nova as one seeds...even Virginia.

you're going to continue to be unimpressed when they win the National Championship and have the perfect season?

Georgia played a great game with a great strategy. Teams "blow" games when they are tired. They short shots and free throws and make stupid mistakes. That happens when you are playing your heart out to try to keep up with a superior opponent. Great teams make other teams look like they blew it.
I've watched a bunch of KY this season including watching them toy with teams that in other years might be considered contenders but definitely top 10-25 teams. Kansas was ridiculous. UCLA was one of the most dominant displays (and humiliating things) I have ever seen in college basketball. Pretty much every opponent KY has faced has played their hearts out. KY weathers every storm (no pun) and comes out on top. At this point is it about the psychology. Not letting up and taking things for granted and they are getting the meaningful results @ 30-0. Bottom line: I'm impressed.

Once again, Lunardi knocks us down 1 seed line without us having played a game (no real difference 8 to 9, though).

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

Lunardi went out of his way to write an article in January singling out St. John's and that they would not make the Tournament. So he has a vested interest (his ego) in downplaying St. John's.

He certainly seems to have us constantly lower than the other "experts". His fascination with having Xavier seeded higher than us clearly show bias

He needs to stick to analyzing #s a week from the tournament. He has no background to give any of his predictions any more merit than one of our posters.

If anyone is still watching the bubble like I am (for seeding purposes and to ensure bubble teams get pushed back further away from us), here's what to watch today:

Ohio State (21-8, No. 36) at Penn State, 6 p.m., BTN

Tennessee at LSU (21-8, No. 45), 7 p.m., SEC Network (LSU about to lose, they're currently a 10 seed in Lunardi's latest bracket)

Purdue (19-10, No. 59) at Michigan State (19-10, No. 30), 8 p.m., BTN

Miami (18-11, No. 71) at Pitt (19-11, No. 50), 8 p.m., ESPN3

Cincinnati (20-9, No. 49) at Tulsa (21-7, No. 33), 9 p.m., CBS Sports Network

St. John’s (20-9, No. 38) at Marquette, 9 p.m., Fox Sports 1

TCU at Oklahoma State (17-11, No. 43), 9 p.m., ESPNU

USC at UCLA (18-12, No. 52), 9 p.m., ESPN2

Nebraska at Illinois (18-11, No. 61), 10 p.m., BTN

The way I see it, we need to win the next 4 in a row to feel 100% secure heading into the tourney. 3-1 heading into Nova, means we will either need to upset them or win 1 game in the BE tourney.

SHU
Xavier
Gtown
@ Marquette

Boy would it be nice to be 3-0 heading into Wisconsin in early March

I asked and we received. Let's keep it up!!!

Can't believe how quickly they wrapped this up. I'm officially done caring about the bubble... Well, I guess there's a few teams I can root against.

All about seeding now.

Start rooting against teams projected on the 6 and 7 seed lines. Need to get off the 8/9 lines to give us a shot at something special.

One negative which I find a little surprising is our SOS went from mid-30's to 51 just from that game. Definitely will move up a few spots with Nova and a top 25 RPI opponent in BE tourney though
