Oregon about to pick up a huge win over Utah. Oregon will have now passed us most likely since they were previously one of the first 4 out

They may be ahead of us, but not at to the point of us being out. We moved out of that "first 4 in" yesterday, when Lunardi posted it on Sportscenter.

We are definitely going to have to win 3 of our last 4 games in order to get in to the tournament. There will be no backing in for us. All these other bubble teams are coming up with big wins over ranked teams. If we stumble we're done!!

We could go 2-2 and win in the BET as well...

Yes we can, I agree Jack that is another path for us. The only fear I have is that these bubble teams from the power conferences are going to have more chances against higher ranked teams to make there case. Our only shot against a very high ranked team is Villanova. ACC, Big Ten and Big Twelve each have more top 20 teams in there league I believe which more chances for big wins in their conference tournaments. Every time another bubble team beats a top 20 opponent it pushes us further down the list. Even the PAC 12 has two top ten teams in Arizona and Utah for their teams to take a shot at. We have very little margin for error here.

You're right but we could go 2-2 with a win over Nova as well. That may also be enough to get in.

I'm still hoping we get healthy enough to make a serious run in the BET and make all this bubble talk irrelevant. Our seniors deserve to go out on top and we haven't won one in what seems like ages.

I hope so also Russell. I'm with you all the way. Is anyone watching this Temple vs Tulsa game. Omg!! Neither one of these teams deserves to be in the tournament. They're both horrible. Throwing up wild shots not even hitting the rim. We deserve to be in more than both of these teams regardless.

We certainly need some permutation of 3 of the next 4 to feel comfortable come selection Sunday. Outside of that we need a nice showing in the BET. In my head, i do think we pass the eye test though. We have been right there with tournament caliber teams aside from Georgetown and Butler 2. I hope that comes into play with the committee. If we win 3 of the next 4, our objective numbers trump our subjective ones.

Surprised we are off the last four in and last four byes line. Loving that San Diego state matchup too, wish that were real.

crazy that with 1 win over SHU we moved from one of the last two teams in, to a 10 seed. And a ton of bubble teams had a very good weekend. That to me says if we beat Xavier tonight we will be in very good standing (aka it would take a catastrophe to blow it)

@NYPost_Brazille: Latest Ken Pom ratings: St. John's 38, Iona 90. RPI: Iona 45, St. John's 46. #sjubb #icmbb

Looks like Tulsa beating Temple yesterday helped us out. We've moved ahead of Temple or in line with them, and Tulsa is still not in the field. Also Illinois and UCLA losing helped. Thought the Oregon win would do more for them.

Also, just by playing Wisconsin on the road, Minnesota jumped back into the top 100 RPI (even though they lost), giving us an additional victory there. Now, they need to stay there.

Don't worry, we are not considered a mid-major here. We are listed under "Teams that are in better shape (that once weren't)." Also, I don't think we were ever 1-5. Creighton loss dropped us to 2-5, if I remember correctly.

St. John's (18-9, 7-7 Big East)
Who the Red Storm were: A team that started a dreadful 1-5 in the Big East, putting Steve Lavin's backside directly on the hot seat.

Who they've become: Let's just say the fire is down, if not off, for Lavin, since the Red Storm have rallied to a respectable, but still less than anticipated 7-7. Sir'Dominic Pointer's sudden explosion -- he's averaging 18 points over the past seven games -- has helped.

How they stay here: St. John's has been wildly unpredictable most of the season and can't afford to finish that way, not for Lavin's job security or for the Red Storm's postseason hopes.

Can someone please define what defines a program as mid-major?
Conference, schedule, success, budget, history?

It absolutely has to be conference. In the past there were the major conferences and then the mid major conferences. I think the term is a bit more skewed these days for sure as the talent level of the smaller conferences has closed up a bit. Also, the Big East may not be considered one of the Power 5, but you definitely wouldn't call it a mid major. We've also added teams who were previously considered mid major teams like Butler.

It's not power 5, it's "football" 5.
Always has and always will be about football.
