so is he really gonna transfer and sit a year? I guess it might not end up mattering if corona ruins the 2020-21 season but damn, I think maybe he isn't welcome back to Nebraska after some of his antics, because transferring and sitting a whole year after he had a pretty solid season that landed him in the second round of a lot of mock drafts I saw, it is not a great idea to me

Valparaiso’s Javon Freeman-Liberty told me has has pulled his name from the NBA Draft, and instead has decided to transfer.

Sophomore guard averaged 19 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Chicago kid

I was just thinking the same thing. Additionally, how is he not drawing interest from more big time programs? He was 14th in the nation in assists last year. I guess the problem is he's already 21, and turning 22 next month.

Does every kid in college shoot under 30% from 3?

How soon until he is spotted in New Rochelle ? Of course by the time he is eligible Pitino will be gone.

I know it has been talked about, but the staff is making Perez a priority and he wants to be at St. John’s, the only problem is, is that there is not a scholarship open and if you know Anderson at all you know he will not tell a guy to leave, he has built his foundation on trust but in this case I think he will have to, whether you ask McGriff to move on or Caraher, Caraher wants to be here bad and I think he can be a huge 4 year player, and McGriff wants to be here also. Although it always solves itself out and LJ might end up going Pro, I think it will all depend on McGriff. It’s going to be a interesting story. Perez is the real deal and would help this team tremendously in 2021. Thoughts?

LJ has to make a decision here and if McGriff was going to, that should have been settled a while ago. I wouldn’t push Caraher anywhere. He’s a solid part of the team and bought into everything Anderson wanted him to do and was productive. Bottom line is that LJ needs to make a prompt decision which way he’s going. If the staff doesn’t think McGriff can contribute that’s another story but none of us know what the deal is.

Van Macon is leading the effort & every program makes room when they need it. When a kid sees the reality of playing time, they move on. Don’t see Caraher effected, since CMA likes his hustle and heady play. I don’t see Caraher as a huge four year player as suggested, but recognize his utility. McGriff in the other hand has a lot of competition facing him imo however. We’ll see soon enough if Perez situation materializes.

Perez is a PSA AAU alum, getting him would hopefully be opening a door with a lot of talent behind it as my friend Moose pointed out to me. We historically never get PSA kids for some reason.

Any chance we can get creative and offer a walk-on spot to Jose or someone else already on the roster? Obviously I don't know anyone's situation but we have some good students on the team who should qualify for academic scholarships. Definitely a difficult situation but I think I remember Xavier doing something like that a few years ago with that big center they had.

Agree Caraher not a huge piece for us but he’s solid and not a guy I think should be effected. He’s worked and has a lot of utility off the bench for us. Agree McGriff could be that guy, coupled with injury and lots of talent ahead of him. We shall see. Getting PSA guys could really help future recruiting as well. I also think Perez is quite talented and very much a Mike Anderson type player.

McGriff would have to sit out another year if he transferred, as he has already taken classes for a year at SJU (a la Sid Wilson). It looks unlikely that the new transfer rules are going to be in place before the next school year. Does he want to go to college for 2 years without actually being able to play basketball? Is CMA comfortable forcing that on a student athlete?

What's Cam's mom's opinion on all this? Inquiring minds want to know.
