19-20 Transfers

PT won’t be a problem :)

Wichita St adds Alterique Gilbert — grad transfer from UConn.

Very good player;

UConn, Ole miss, Xavier, Georgia, Illinois, Dayton, UMass, St.Johns, DePaul, Western Kentucky, Cincinnati have reached out to @RiderMBB transfer @dimencio_vaughn

Sounds like a very good player but, if we only have one opening, we are in greater need of a burly 6'9"+ inside defender / rebounder /shot blocker than a 6'5" wing player IMO.

If LJ decides to leave, this kid would be an excellent pickup.

Staff agrees it seems, still searching for the ever elusive interior player with some bulk.

If I was a grad transfer big what would appeal about St. John’s? They have 4 bigs on the roster. 3 which were serious contributors last year.

Good interior players with bulk are hard to find and, when one becomes available, there is a lot of stiff competition for him.

They are valuable commodities!!

Heard they have a real shot at this kid.

The only "bigs" we really have is Roberts & Moore, Champagnie, Earlington are not bigs (but can rebound).

Plenty of time for someone to get 25 minutes in the Big East.

I wonder if former Mets Sidd Finch pitcher has anyone eligible?

Sources: Illinois transfer Alan Griffin has cut his list to the following programs. - Rothstein

Miami
Syracuse
Dayton
Iowa State
Arizona
Texas

I’ll go w Dayton with HC & Griffin’s dad very close friends.

If you think Earlington and Champaigne both get major minutes next year (I do), that will come mostly at the 4/5 IMO. Roberts and Moore getting what’s left. There aren’t that many minutes up front unless it’s a legitimate center worthy of putting Roberts on the bench and eating into ME & JC time. My guess is we get someone at about Roberts level but hopefully with some size.

Vaughn is good, but we still need at least one center on roster. I suppose Moore has height but just one post guy would be nice.

I’ll say though that Vaughn can be awesome for us. Real good player. Dropped 25 on Oregon a year or two ago. He’d be a great addition. He can also run the court real well. I think between Roberts, champs, Moore, potentially Vaughn we’d have a deep running team. This kid is definitely from that Arkansas Korliss Williamson mold...

Roberts could be the odd man out with a grad transfer 5. But we play a lot of guys we do play a lot of guys in our system. Obviously there are some PT issues if LJ comes back, but good problem to have. Potentially a very flexible rotation:

5: Grad Transfer/Roberts/Moore/Earlington
4: Moore/Earlington/Champagne
3: Champagne/Cole/Caraher
2: Cole/Williams/Dunn/Wusu
1: Posh/Dunn/McGriff

I just don’t see Champaigne playing majority of his minutes at the 3. Even without LJ. Cole, Williams Dunn, Caraher and Wusu all in line to play some at the 3.

In an uptempo system Champaigne does not provide the ball skills to be a 3 and in my opinion limits his advantages against bigger players.

Would be good replacement for LJ. Still the need for a big man of course.

Didn't he go to school in the South for a year or two. Wonder if CMA and TJ know him from his time down there.
