@Marquette, Sat., Mar. 4, 2p, FOX

Didn’t watch the game so don’t know the particulars but the final score tells me two things.

1. The Anderson regime will go down as the regime that never taught defense. And no, you can’t blame it in racehorse basketball which has not been visible for quite some time.

2. For a team to score this many points without a structured offense, the talent and quickness is certainly there regardless of what other posters may say. Clearly this talent and athleticism was wasted on this staff.

The season can’t end soon enough. A change is needed.
When you factor in compensation package and results, worse coaching hire in the history of SJU basketball. Maybe in the history of SJU period. And considering some of other less-then-stellar coaching hires, that's saying an awful lot.

True, this is on Craig. Regardless of his coaching ability. Craig, how in the world did you extend him so far without proving anything

Understandable to focus on the negatives and poor coaching all year and we definitely need a new coach next year. But let's give these kids some props today. They lost by 2 points to the #6 team in the country on their home court and played their hearts out. Well done lads!

What makes this regular season loss even more depressing is the thought of what this season could have been. College basketball is having a real down year. Most of the blue bloods are floundering and the big east in particular is having a down year.
Marquette is the least talented team to win the big east title in a long time and to rated sixth in the country shows how bad the rest of the country is. This was the year to win a game or two in the tournament and to not even come close to a bid is a monumental failure.

Wouldn't be too surprised if Cragg doesn't know much about the actual game.

I never turned a sju game off no matter the score until today. I turned it off when we were down 8. Can’t believe I missed it
I did the same.

To top it off, I not taking Thursday off, so if we win on Wednesday, I'm missing it against n, though at least I take lunch at 1:00, so if it's close, I can listen to the second half on the app.

This is an ironic example of being suckered into an extension by a coach and his agent after ONE decent season and then coasting to your eventual termination.
This showed the desperation of the St. John's administration in trying to avoid another coaching search after the embarrassing effort after Mullin was fired.
Hopefully we learn from it as Father Shanley learned from the hiring of Keno Davis who used his COY award at Drake to pivot into the Providence job.

My brother's name is Craig. I blame him for a lot but not for the CMA hire. That falls squarely on Cragg 😉

I’m not plugged into what happened, but Anderson’s teams used to play hard, with hard nosed defense and players that were in better condition than most of their opponents. Let’s not forget though, that he was granted an extension coming off Big East coach of the year honor. Cragg likely felt this is going great snd we gotta wrap this guy up long term

Wusu is horrible because he doesn’t have a defined role and constantly thinks he’s James Harden. Wusu should be playing defense , rebounding and taking the spot up three. He should not be a primary ball handler , he should not be bull dozing towards the rim with no idea what he wants to do with ball and should be trying to make circus passes.
He thinks he's the most talented player on the team

There's lots of details most of us aren't privy to, but to me the big gaffe was not necessarily the extension but not incorporating a very reasonable buyout if you are going to do an extension after that good second year when most were optimistic where things were going. Hopefully they learned a hard lesson from that mistake. Get it right this time. The team has talent, just needs direction.

To be fair, Wusu is maybe the biggest victim of the total lack of coaching. He was an under recruited kid who has done talent but needed to be molded and coached up into a defined role. There’s no way he should have been designated a primary bill handler. And he should have been reigned in with his out of control drives and blocks at the basket.

He’s a tough strong kid who could have developed nicely if coached right. This staff like most I guess pick favorites and in this case has blinded them to the deficiencies.

Dylan scored 25 today on 9-13 from the field 4-6 of three and 3-3 from the line with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He has his faults, but he is very clearly a Big East level player.
