Around the Big East

Up to Johnnies (Nebraska), Xavier (Indiana) & Nova (Michigan State) to sweep last 3 for Big East to break even against Big Ten in this year's Gavitt Games.
Everyone talks about our strength of schedule. At this point all we can do is win our games which we can control. We also need our fellow conference members to play well in non conference games. These games impact their NET's and ultimately ours.

Big East with a bit of a Caribbean flair today - Georgetown playing in Jamaica against Loyola Marymount at 4:30 and Depaul in the Bahamas to take on Santa Clara at 9:30 both on CBSSN. Remaining Gavitt games feature Indiana at Xavier at 6 and Nova at Michigan State at 8 both on FS1.
Lastly, UNC Wilmington vs. UCONN at Storrs at 8:30 on FS2. Busy day in the Big East!

Hoyas better show up. I mean I don't think that LMU is good at all but how many games can GT just suck up the court and still recruit...

I think Georgetown has serious depth issues but now that Heath is eligible, their starting 5 looks like it should be pretty solid (emphasis on should.) A front court of Akok & Wahab and the backcourt of Primo & Heath with Murray as the big guard. Talent and role wise that all makes sense to me. 5 transfers I think? so maybe they gel more as the season goes on. I like our old pal Riley but the lack of depth after the starters is glaring.

I was watching them last week, not a huge fan of Murray, he can definetly score but he was doing a lot of sulking.

If Georgetown isn’t 2 W’s again I’m going to be extremely disappointed. Can’t afford to not bank 2 conference wins against that squad.

Georgetown was outscored 52-24 In second half of loss to LMU
Worse in the second half than Nebraska was last night. By one point.

Worst thing that happened to Georgetown was winning the 2021 Big East Tournament. That gave Ewing some leverage, and even if he did come back for last year, it would have been much easier to part ways after the disastrous season (assuming it turns out the same).

Patrick is living off his recognition, and 4 hot days in March of 2021.

One of my favorite highlights of a frustrating season last year was watching Adam Kunkel have one of the worst shooting nights by a white shooting opposing player in carnesecca history. But I woulda really liked to see him make that layup to beat Indiana just now.

Someone on Indiana's team pulled the net. It should've been basket interference.

NIT bound Nova down 10 to Michigan St at half 😇
The way they are looking NIT would be a stretch. Neptune is not looking like a good Jay Wright replacement so far.

My general thought is if a coach doesn't dominate in a mid-major/low major conference there's no way they can compete in high major conference. Kyle Neptune, went 8-10 in the Atlantic 10 last year. If you're a really good coach, if you have half-way decent players, you at least finish .500 in that conference, and make the NIT or CIT or something. You're only playing against 2-3 tournament caliber teams in all of conference play.
