Kermit Washington played for American U. He finished second in the nation in rebounds in 1971 averaging 20.5 rpg. He led the nation in rebounds in 1972 with 19.8 rpg and again in 1973 with 20.4 rpg. This is the same Kermit Washington who slugged Rudy Tomjanovich and rearranged his face.
One of the epic battles I've ever seen was Mel Davis vs Kermit Washington at Alumni Hall on 12/14/71 in a game won by St. John's in OT 83-76. In an excerpt from an article in the NY Times:
"Mel Davis led St. John's with 33 points and 21 rebounds while Kermit Washington had career‐high 30 points and 20 rebounds for American."
Mel Davis was indeed a beast on the boards. In my opinion, he was one of St. John's all time greats.

I’m looking forward to Zuby to progress as a shooter. His stroke got better towards the end of last season and I’m hoping he does the same this year.
re-watched the Providence game... cause why not... and he's gotta try and keep the D honest when he gets the ball on the 3 point line... he can* make that shot... i wouldnt mind him taking 4 or 5 a game from there...

Got to meet Zuby after the Butler win on Saturday…My takeaway is he’s very level headed, hard working, no ego, the sky is the limit for a skilled big like him wishing him all the success here and beyond. View attachment IMG_1127.jpeg

Zuby has earned his "bag" for next season... Hopefully Matt starts and ends those discussions early and the Fam places a Do Not Contact tag on him lol
Going to bet unless he turns pro, he won't leave simply for $$. Treat him fairly and he's in. Imo no way he develops into this at Kansas. Lots of personal attentionfrom Rick.
