Zags reporting MA Will Be Brought Back. Please boycott the games and donations

I like Anderson and I was in favor of his hire. (Just as I was in favor of the Mullin and Lavin hires.) But alas, I am not a burner account for Anderson. I'm just doing the math and it doesn't add up. I blame Cragg or whoever was calling the shots on the CMA contract extension.
I too had no issues of Anderson coming. Met him. Nice guy for sure. But barring a big east tourney run into the ncaa’s it’s time to move on. Sju administration screwed up with his extension and buyout. They need to eat it or they don’t realize what little fan base is left is gonna leave. And please hire the right guy.

As I've said countless times before, Cragg is looking for a reason-any reason-to keep CMA. And a tourney run would give him more then enough reason.
feel Cragg has no say in any decision. He could recommend but think he's not calling any shots.

What I still don't know is that if Shanley has ultimate say or does Board have to approve..and if so, is it entire Board of like 25-30, or some subset ?

No say RSNC? I think Cragg makes the recommendation and the BOT and Shanley either approve or disapprove. But have no way of knowing for sure. I have no clue how many BOT members there are.

Having experience with PC, I think Shanley is a lot more say then you say then you may think. He likes power and usually what he says goes. Who really knows though

That’s exactly what I have been discussing with friends. Does anyone know the entire process for naming a new coach? How and who comes up with what candidates? Who then recommends a candidate to whom? Who then has the power and authority to green light the hire? I know part of this sounds like an Abbott and Costello routine but that comedy team act would probably run more smoothly and efficiently than our schools.

I'm not saying that Shanley doesn't have a lot of power. He should, he runs the school. All I'm saying is that I think Cragg provides the candidate or candidates, makes his suggestion and then the board and Shanley give the thumbs up or down. Ultimately I don't think anyone gets hired without Shanley signing off on it.

It is someone who has an agenda but not sure it is pro-Anderson as much as it is sour grapes with SJU.

Think about it, the entire argument for bringing him back is not because he is a good coach or has done a good job but because SJU f'd up and did not negotiate a better buyout and they are too cheap to buy him out now. That is a helluva an endorsement to keep a coach.

How would you like that on your Wikipedia page as a Coach, was retained by SJU for a 5th season because they did not want to pay his buyout.

I need to go see if someone added that to Capel's page. Feel like Boston College may have done the same thing with a coach.

I thought that's the BOT signing off on it? I'm confused.

Many schools utilize search firms to seek out candidates through agents and intermediaries to find qualified candidates.

An agent/ attorney for a coach can contact the school’s search service, and the service can contact the coach/ wxecutive’s agent. This indirect method allows both school and coaches to commence behind the scene discussions and plausible denial. Collegiate Consulting, and Collegiate Sports Consulting are just a two of the search services.

Unfortunately when Mullin unexpectedly quit late in the cycle St. John’s was unable to fully utilize a long term third party search.

In the past St. John’s has used Collegiate Sports Consulting.
