Zach Brown Arrested Again

At this point he is just about an adult so a year of Prep in some remote location with good people, where he can sever the bad influences could be his last chance. Hopefully he's got some interests other than basketball so he can become a real human being regardless. Distance, perspective and developing a deep appreciation for higher values and goals is what can get you there. I did this twice as a young person who had gotten into some trouble and recidivised before heading to St John's after cutting ties with loser "friends" I actually got expelled my senior year of hs about a month before graduation. Fortunately I got my St John's acceptance letter just a couple of days later! ;)

I was a big supporter of D'Lo and even cut Rysheed some slack, and am all for 2nd and even 3rd chances(sometimes), but neither D'Lo nor Rysheed came here with anywhere near the kind of track record of troubling behavior that Zach has. And rest assured, the infractions that we know about are only the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure that there were other things that were swept under the rug. From the get-go, the odds were slim that Zach would ever suit up here. Between his academic, behavioral and criminal problems, it would have been nothing short of a miracle if he had been eligible to play for us at any point. I put the odds on here at 50/50 early on, but only because I had some faith in the staff, and because I didn't want to rain on everyone's parade. But in all honesty I didn't think there was much more than a 10% chance of him playing here. Putting aside our big man problems for a moment, Zach's life is far more important than our basketball program. At this point, Zach doesn't need college, Zach needs serious help. Or Zach is going to wind up just like Rysheed, or maybe even worse. I hope his handlers/leeches are as concerned about Zach the human being as they are about Zach the basketball player.

What did Harrison ever do??

Wasn't he suspended a few times?

Yeah for stuff that was never fully explained. Yet Jordan seemed to get a free ride when Lavin started to feel heat to make tourney.
I really do blame Lavin for Harrison suspension. The equivalent of teaching Pointer how to play D in front of camera.

Was St. John's your punishment for your crimes?

So that really is you and not Steve Hanson in your profile pic? :)

"Puttin' on the foil!"

Everyone knew there was high risk/reward with Zach Brown. This doesn't shock higher-ups at St. John's. It was cleared. #sjubb

Zach Braziller
This one makes Livingston seem like no risk now

There actually was a risk: We risked having more wins. Thank God the higher-ups squashed it.

Do we really want someone who had to know he was on his last chance and still pulls this stuff?

Yeah, don't think you need to worry about that anymore. That ship not only sailed but hit an iceberg sunk and all the survivors were eaten by sharks.

Or was it Uboats (German submarines) as in the pride cruise ship Lusitania 1915 WWI?
A shame...oh well an opening!

I loved St John's. I was such a moron though it was truly an act of God that I got there and finally started appreciating things about mid way through my Soph year. Being a Post-LC fan is rough though.

If it was not for bad luck we would have no luck at all! We are a maligned program!
It's all getting very old as a fan for over 48 years!

"Puttin' on the foil!"

Pretty close to me after trying to guard Michael Porter in Alumni Hall.

I seem to recall the rumor being that he went after Rico or Chiles at practice.

Rico, and he probably had it coming.

My theory is we needed a good run to make tourney so Lavin gave himself a built in excuse for not making the tourney. I am sure Harrison was a pain in the ass but now knowing what we do about Obekpa and Jordan, funny they never got an indefinite suspension. He knew he needed to make the tourney that last year. Harrison could have stabbed Hines and not gotten suspended.

i was looking for the old thread on Zach Brown where did it go ?
You know ,the one where all the posters were writing about what a good kid he is, and everyone needs a second chance, and the staff did their due diligence.
I told you, we don't need this type of kid around our program.
This hurts our program going forward in multiple ways.

All jokes aside I have no problem taking shot on kid. We are going to have to take chances to get some of these kids. Took a shot and it didn't work out. No harm, no foul.

Yeah, while I'm disappointed, I'm glad it happened before he officially joined the team. This allows us to still go out and recruit over him. I'm still guessing that we will go the graduate transfer route.

It sounds like this kid needs more help than any basketball staff can give him. Who the heck reaches over a counter and takes cash from a register in full view of everyone. Particularly when they're already up on charges.

If We , as a Catholic a University, want to help him, I'm all for it. But No basketball for him until he gets his head together. Just my two cents.

WOW that news really hurt now matt and staff have to earn their.Hope they had a planB

Brown is an unredeemable. I have no doubt that he will spend the majority of his life hurting people and going in and out of jail. While a catholic university needs to show compassion, it should balance that compassion with the safety of all it's students, ball players, and faculty.
The good of the many outweigh the good of the few.
