Yankees 2024 Season

2 months ago, my brother said he's coming up from Georgia and wants to go to a Yankees game this week. Sounded like a good idea, but now that the day is here, none of us (6) really want to go. I'm betting German doesn't get out of the 3rd inning.

did you go to the game? Good call. Just turned game on and it’s 3 nothing

Went to the game. Hot and humid. No breeze at all, and the Yankees bats put everyone to sleep early. However, a bunch of poor outfield plays by IKF and Stanton, and a dumb baserunning blunder by Higashioka got my blood boiling even more.

Ramirez settled things down, the rest of the bullpen followed, and FINALLY, the bats showed some life, the rain held off, and Delaware came home a happy camper. I give Yankees fans credit. Every night 40K fans show up (tonight 46K!) to cheer this offensively challenged team. But when they hit homers (and the other team's pitcher (an All-Star), wild pitches in the tying run) they have a chance.

An exciting, comeback win. Wanting to really believe in this team, but they disappoint me far too often.

Did not stay for the fireworks.

Good win today after a nice one last night. Bullpen is really pitching in. Schmidt needs to better finish off innings, but I guess it's tough when you can't hide Cabrera no matter where he plays, infield or outfield. Torres with a solid game, but I thought his first to home sprint was a bit reckless. Even Boone admits that Torres gets himself in trouble. Abreu another Yankees pitcher that can't field his position.

Bader continues to be clutch. Hopefully his wrist is not an issue. Nevertheless, keep it going against a young team that is having a very good season. Need a good one out of Vasquez tomorrow.

As bad as we've looked at times, we've lost virtually no ground in the Wild Card race, since Judge went down. It's time to start making these for the other contenders pay for not catching. These two games have been a good start

game 86.
another very big win against a wild card contender.
torres has batting skills, but clearly needs checkup from neckup.
torres ran right through a red light at third.
dj, my favorite, is miserable with RISP.
volpe and ikf seem to have turned it around.
again the bullpen saves the day.
hicks made a nice play off the wall and great throw to 2nd,
but hicks is still a way below average outfield glove man.

I see no basic skills (physical and mental) improving under Boone/Cashman regime. Many of these players seem to not have the basic knowledge of the game (ie. Baserunning, batting, fielding and throwing, situation savvy, etc.).

Ah, the vaunted bullpen. Not. 6 runs in 4 innings is not too good. Boone falls in love with guys too easily. That's why Ramirez got the gig last night. Why not Peralta there? King needs to understand that hitters are sitting on his first pitches. He and the staff seem foreign to that. Boone still thought bullpen stuff was real good. Huh?

Lots of empty at bats against a mediocre Orioles starter. Top of the Yankees order was 0 for 16 with 7 strikeouts. Geez.

And once again, horrible outfield play doomed the Yankees. WTF are these guys working on during the spring? Bad throw by Volpe with the infield in, too.

Need to get this last game tonight or they haven't gained anything over 4 days.

Boone manages according to a pre-ordained script, and won't deviate. There was no reason to pull Vazquez after 5 and 75 pitches - you had a multi-run lead, and he held the Orioles scoreless. Let him go batter to batter. But, that would require having something resembling feel, and that's beyond Boone and his completely scripted management of the pitching staff. The man is a glorified PR agent masquerading as a manager.

Yanks might limp into the second or third wild card spot, but once again looks like a team not going anywhere in the postseason. Yes, they are getting 2 of their starters back soon but they are 27 out of 30 when it comes to team batting average. That just won't cut it.
