Well there aren't going to be any fans so it shouldn't be a problem. Or are you expecting demonstrations outside the stadium?
I think Knight's firmly in the anti kneeling camp.
I thought we were past all that. I mean its happening in every sport now. Pro, amateur, men, women, black, white, brown, yellow, etc...
People have a right not to like it, but can't we at least accept that people have the right to do it and just move on?
You're a lawyer and I'm not, so maybe you can help me understand how it's one's "right" to protest/make a political statement on company time? As for me, I am moving on..without pro sports.

Juan Soto of the Nats tests positive. He was tested two days ago. Results didn’t come back till today. Nationals play tonight. How can you put the team out there considering they’ve been around Soto the last two days?? This shit isn’t gonna last I’m sorry. Only the NBA and NHL are gonna do this successfully because they are actually employing bubbles

I won't be watching the nba much if at all. Got Baseball, and the nhl from noon-1am coming pretty pretty soon.
Also won't be watching the beginning of the nfl games week 1.
Black anthem sounds racists to me.

They can do as they want, but I don't have to watch.

European football in many countries finished and is finishing their seasons without bubbles. I know they have flattened the curve better than American's but the bubble while good doesn't mean without a bubble is impossible.

The Major League Baseball Players Association has agreed to a plan to expand the playoffs to 16 teams for the 2020 season, sources told ESPN's Marly Rivera.

A playoff expansion still needs the final approval of MLB owners, sources said.

All second-place teams in the six divisions will qualify for the playoffs, sources said. Then the seventh and eigth teams in both leagues will be chosen by best record among other teams.

Sources said an important aspect for the players was player and family housing and access to the stadium during the playoffs.

If a 16-team format is adopted, it would include a televised postseason-seeding show in which top-seeded teams pick their first-round opponents, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney on Thursday.

Who said I was a lawyer? Sorry monte, but you've been misinformed, again. Perhaps one of the attorneys that posts on this site can answer your question in more detail from their perspective as a legal professional.

But as a non-lawyer, who did NOT stay at a holiday inn express last night, I'm going to guess that since there is no law in this country requiring someone to stand for the national anthem, that there's no collectively bargained rule in MLB requiring that members of the union stand for the anthem, and since this is still a free country (for the time being at least) that they are pretty much free to sit, stand, kneel or take a nap during that ceremony if they want too.

And 'bravo' for having the courage of your convictions and boycotting pro-sports. That's the free market at work. If you don't like the product or the people selling it, vote with your wallet. If enough people share your position and do the same, you might get them to change the way the operate.

Had this same conversation with a friend about an hour ago. I wonder if Manfred will finally get canned after baseball is the one sport that can't finish its season because they didn't decide to play in a "bubble".

Good point moose. I think the issue that complicates it for baseball is that they play everyday. More chances for players who are infected to pass it along.

I hoping it works out, but I really don't think baseball finishes 60 games and the playoffs.

Players need to behave and follow rules. If soccer players can follow the rules I don't see why MLB and NBA also can't.

Quite true. You don't have to watch. Just curious, but what are you going to do about baseball if Aaron Judge takes a knee tonight?

Baseball is the one season that can't finish its season?
Stay tuned to football, that goes into early February, so covid-19 mixes in with the flu season. Not worried about september and october, but starting November I'll be getting very nervous. Gotta pray for a vaccine very soon, one that can kill the mutation as well.

I can't take the heat and always want september to get here, but this year I'm in no rush. Let summer take its sweet time.

Could be a possibility that in the future that we'll only have sports in the spring, summer, and fall, but nothing in the winter.

haha...this is America... We can't get everyone to wear a mask to save lives. How are you going to get players who aren't in a 'bubble' for their sport to always do the right thing?

I'll turn it on at 7:05 which would be after the anthem. I don't think he will though.

Definitely possible. But I think Football has the best chance to make it work outside of a 'bubble' environment because they only play once a week. You can have a charter flight to and from away games on the same day. Its clearly a disadvantage for the road team, but what are you going to do? Its not a normal season anyway.

Question with football is WILL they do what it takes to make it work? Definitely fair to be pessimistic about that.

I can't stop them, so what the hell you want me to do about it?
Only thing in my power is to not watch the anthem.

I will never ever agree with kneeling against my flag/country no matter the bs excuse. You want to protest police brutality, do it a different way.
You're never going to change my belief so don't try to.

I hope the head idiots of the nfl listen to the medical and staffs. Glad there's not going to be even 2 nfl preseason games, less chance to catch the virus for the players.

Also needs to be mentioned what if its a false positive? Joey Gallo tested positive twice and negative twice over a short period. Soto might get 2 quick negative tests and then by rule he's eligible again. It's all over the place.

Not trying to change your mind. Just want to understand where your threshold is for boycotting/not watching. I think I've got it now.

I believe a player must quarantine for 14 days after testing positive, and in addition test negative twice before returning.
