Yankees - 2020

Last night I read 4 players and a few coaches were infect, well today.....

The COVID-19 outbreak, which has since affected 12 of the team's players and two coaches, may also affect the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees.

Aren't they the same team that had to have their facility shut in June? What's up with them?

Honestly, as far as players and owners are concerned, I could care less if there's ever pro sports again. I won't watch anyways. However, I do care about the people who work the concession stands, the ushers, the security guards (of which my dad was one later in life), etc. Ya know, the "little people". For those reasons alone I hope the pro seasons aren't cancelled.

Totally agree monte. Its always the little guy who gets screwed.
I hope the league plays out its season so they are in a position to help those guys out because without fans in attendance I don't think the little guy is going to have a season even if the league crowns a champion for 2020.

I have a question though, and I'm not looking to stir shit up with this question because as I said in another post, I give credit to those with the "courage of their convictions" who are giving up pro sports to make a statement.
But I'm curious what you, and anyone else who is giving up pro sports, will do when/if college athletes follow suit and protest as some pro athletes have.
Will your boycott extend to SJU Hoops also if that happened, or is it different because college kids aren't getting paid to play?

That's a good question, and one that I've been thinking about. Don't have an answer for you yet. Honestly, I've been disenchanted with pro sports for years, so giving it up ain't all that hard. SJU basketball and, to a lesser degree, Bama football are my 2 passions. Gonna be a tough call if and when the time comes.

game 4.
baby bronx bombers beat baltimore birds with 3 ballantine blasts. leading mvp candidate dj had 4 base knocks and a getty goner. dj is a magician with the bat. high/low/inside/outside - there seems to be no weak spots. a healthy stanton and hicks will lead to the best lineup in baseball. strange item - 2 catcher interferences in one inning. cole again won without having his best stuff. cole again fails to complete the 7th inning (wink/wink).

Sanchez is clearly a liability. After this year cut the cord, and go get Reamulto. I never want to overpay for Sanchez.

Hopefully, the season will last long enough for him to get A hit!

game 5 - oh what a sweet road win.
up 5 to 4 then a 96 minute rain delay.
o's score 2 in the 8th to go up 6 to 5.
then top of night - #99 hits a 3 run abc you later.
13 of the14 runs were via the long ball.
mvp leader stanton with 3 hits and walk. stay healthy
happ did not have it. ottavino again fails to get a 1, 2, 3 inning.
And the Sanchez struggles continue.
90% of the game is half mental.

game 6 - baby bombers again get getty goners (3) to whip rival boosox
leading mvp candidate, dj the magician, had 3 more base knocks
not an mvp wannabee finally celebrates july with 2 walks/ballantine blast - gardner
the monty health watch took a positive note with the outing. need him healthy
boosocks need a replacement for pitcher weber to make playoffs.
adam o again fails to get a 1, 2, 3 inning. (wink).
judge is so strong. hits an inside pitch for an opposite field getty goner and his arm doubles a runner off first base.

game 7. another win over the hated boosox.
pitching - does the boosox have any? with rodriquez down for the year, sucks are pitching hurting.
pitching - tanaka gets work in. needs a few more starts to see if he is ready for the season. boone wisely yanked tanaka out when he did.
pitching - yanks often using low minor leaguers to see what they have. so far using these aa pitchers have not hurt the yankee record.
leading mvp candidate judge is on fire.
the tauch - the fastest yank? if his bat stays hot, gardy will be seeing more bench time.
kraken broke through with a seeing eye opposite field base knock. he did hit the ball well for 2 of his at bats.
bravo yank's pen and gio's stick.
is it magic number countdown time?

game 8. oh what a night part II
down in the 8th and dj ties it after the tauch sets it up with another stolen base. sit gardy, sit.
then leading mvp candidate #99 hits his 2nd getty goner of the night
the yaaaaaaaaankeeeeeeeees win.
featherduster paxton is so bad that he would be the ace of the boosox (wink) rotation.
kraken had a nice line drive rbi double. still takes too many called strikes.
