Yankees - 2020

Yankees up 6-1 during a rain delay in the 7th
Cole only 4k in 6 innings and gave up another HR. Wink wink?
Gio continues to show he’s not a one year fluke.

Yanks are looking great at 8-1, but what happened to Sanchez?
2-25 1 rbi in 8 games for an avg of 080.
How in the world was he once considered out best hitter?

Sanchez is batting .200 in his last 800 plate appearances. With all the right handed power the Yankees have perhaps it's time for him to change his approach in the box.

Sanchez IMHO got caught up in the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality back in 2018 with him trying to keep up with or outhomer Judge and Stanton. That and injuries caused him to hit below the Mendoza line. Not sure he really got out of that mentality last year but he was healthy the most part but that .232 average (or whatever it was) still was a concern.

Right now he still looks like he has that mentality and adding even more pressure like he is trying to make up for homer's he didn't get with the delayed opening. His first two years he would take pitches to right and with power. He is trying to pull everything and is "swinging from the heels". I know its early, but with a 60 game season, early is going to get late pretty soon. He might be headed for another sub .200 batting average this year.

90% of the game is half mental.[/quote]

game 10 - the 7 inning rule stops the yanks
cole urges a 6 inning rule in order to get a complete game
yanks lost this game on terrible defense and poor base running
besides physical errors, yanks could not turn over groundball double plays which would have cut down on runs scoring
the bullpen - nelson - let them down
i blame boone for this loss. boone should have yanked happ much earlier than he did.
happ should have been yanked during pregame warmups.
again co mvp favorites - dj & #99 shine.
gardy again turns it positively around. he twice tried to go to left field. notice of his demise are premature

game 11. yanks love 7 inning rule.
bravo to the tauch and gio. they deserve more praise than i have been giving them.
again adam o fails to get a 1, 2, 3 inning.
bravo to pitching by committee. cy young britton does it again.
boone loves to use his deep bullpen.

Wow. You must have been reading my tweets during Game 1. All your points are on point!

Gerrit Cole 3-0 with 2.55 era

Other starters era of 7.55

But we wink wink because he hasn't gone more than 6 innings in a wacky season.

game 12. full disclosure. i did not see the game. i try not to comment on games i did not see.
my tv schedule had the yanks vs the rays in a twinbill then yanks/rays game postponed, while having the phillies playing someone other than the yanks. so tv people & me Kornfused.
but reading the naked boxscore, it looks like the tauch & gardy are both showing they deserve a spot in a crowded outfield. and that monty added bad stats to a shaky starting pitching rotation.
sir didi batting 292 and mccuthen batting 136 for philly.

All I can do about Gary is lol.
I the 7th with the bases loaded, he K's.
Bottom of the 8th with running on 1st & 2nd, gives up a passed ball, and runners move up.
Same hitter get a sacrifice fly to give TB a 1-0 lead and they won by that score.
We have this guy for 2 more years before he's a FA. an we please get a real starting catcher, and make Gary the backup, the guy is definitely not a starting catcher. If he doesn't like it then let him ask for a trade. This is over 2 years now, he stinks.

Oh and I forgot to mention that he's batting 091.

Half the Mendoza line. May have to institute a Sanchez line. He may not be hitting but at least his fielding stinks too. :silly:

It was called a wild pitch, but he should have blocked it. Any decent catcher would have.

game 13. adam oh no does not strike again. no 1, 2, 3 inning. instead walk, walk, wild pitch, sac fly - game over.
it seemed during every yankee at bat, there were numerous half swings.
snell and the other 50 ray pitchers owned the yankee bats tonite.
the tauch went from peacock to feather duster in same at bat. gets lead off double and then is out by a meter trying to go to third on routine ball to the short stop
tough one zip loss.

game 14. the baby bombers are back- stanton, judge, ford.
cole - the first run that scored off him, the umps really squezzed cole. it could have been a strikeout and 3 outs. all before the first run scored. cole throws heat.
leading mvp candidate #99 had a getty goner and 2 other hits.
kraken strikes out with bases loaded on a high - out of strike zone - pitch. yanks need to keep winning waiting for kraken's bat to turn less cold.
the tauch fans twice with runners on. hits a no out double and steals third with no outs and scores on sac fly. never make the first out at third
adam oh no - 3 up, 3 down due to a fine fielding play by #0 and a generous strike zone.

And like the swallows returning to Capistrano, Mr. Fragile (Sally Stanton) strains a hamstring, and is probably headed to the IL. This one will probably be 30 games missed. Then he returns for the playoffs, bats .125, and blames the injury. So sick of this guy!
