The win yesterday clinched at least the second seed in the AL Playoffs, and home field advantage for at least the ALDS. I mean, we knew that for awhile, yesterday just made that official.

Also, the Yankees and Twins both hit 3 home runs yesterday, so the Yankees lead in that department remains at 1.

Yankees - 298 HR
Twins - 297 HR

Both teams are off on Monday.

Stanton and Andujar combined for 65 home runs last year. This year, they have combined for 2.

Didi and Hicks are also way down from last year, because of their injuries, although Sanchez and Gardner are way up (Torres, too).

We may very well, for the second straight year, not have a 40 home run guy, in a record setting lineup (Stanton led with 38 last year - Torres has 38 this year, and his playing time is likely to be limited this final week).

you can statistically move the yankee chess pieces around every which way but loose. the yankee organization is offensively awsume. thanks to EOY cashman & COY boone.
dj has 26 dingers, gio 20 dingers. maybin 9. the tauch 13. edwin 13..
last year andujar had 27. he & dj a hr push.
lasy year hicks had 27. hicks this year 12 & with maybin & tauch a push.

game 158.
the 11th yankee pitcher of the night, a Scranton slinger, gets the loss.
but a major negative streak was broken. Brooklyn's own has his first 1,2,3 inning in forever.

Houston won, they're getting home field, at this point i dont give a crap anymore, lets just get to the post season already. By the time September gets here, i'm like another freaking month?

Agreed. I'd rather not have any more players risk getting hurt. When Gio was hit last night I felt ill.

Its irritating that when trying to win home field we are getting critical innings from guys that will have no role until spring training. Montgomery, Tarpey, Heller, Gearrin, etc. Finally bit us. Meanwhile. Cole pitches another gem. Houston going all out to win games while we have the B squad out there. Plus our bats did nothing against good pitching. My biggest fear going forward, that our hitters do nothing in the postseason.

Yea but Montgomery, Tarpley and Heller didn't bite us.
I can easily see one of them on the postseason roster honestly. There is still an arm slot or 2 open and they are trying to figure out who.

I want home field as much as anyone but not risking some of these arms.

Don't think we'll see monty in the postseason, he has to build up his arm strength. I'm not Boone though so who knows.

According to ESPN German's administrative leave has been extended through the completion of the World Series.

[quote="SJU61982" post=358631]Entering tonight's action, the home run race stands:

Yankees - 299 HR
Twins - 297

Nm. You enjoy doing the hr totals, so why should i say anything?
Just in a bad mood

Didn't realize German was an administrator. ;)

The more I watch these wildcard teams, the more I believe that, by falling to the #2 seed, the Yankees are getting the softer first round landing, by playing the Twins. Nothing's guaranteed, but I look at these four teams, and Minnesota is the one that scares me the least. I can't worry about Houston, when there is no guarantee that we would even play them, should we reach the ALCS (I won't predict Houston to lose to the wildcard winner, but stranger things have happened).

Speaking of Minnesota, they hit 2 home runs tonight, to tie us at 299. They play tomorrow, so they are likely to become the first team in MLB history to hit 300 home runs in a season. Hopefully, the Yankee bats find themselves again, in the Ballpark at Arlington's final series ever.
