Yankees - 2019
The more I watch these wildcard teams, the more I believe that, by falling to the #2 seed, the Yankees are getting the softer first round landing, by playing the Twins. Nothing's guaranteed, but I look at these four teams, and Minnesota is the one that scares me the least. I can't worry about Houston, when there is no guarantee that we would even play them, should we reach the ALCS (I won't predict Houston to lose to the wildcard winner, but stranger things have happened).

Speaking of Minnesota, they hit 2 home runs tonight, to tie us at 299. They play tomorrow, so they are likely to become the first team in MLB history to hit 300 home runs in a season. Hopefully, the Yankee bats find themselves again, in the Ballpark at Arlington's final series ever.[/quote

TB 1 hit us while k'ing 16. 1 run in 21 innings pisses me off.
Oakland vs Houston would be a great series, tb hos the astros not so much.
Go oak

Twins hit 2 home runs in their game today, so as we go into the final three games, it stands:

Twins - 301 HR
Yankees -299 HR

Twins will be at KC to finish up, Yankees at TEX. Both bad pitching staffs, but Texas is a much better home run park.

A whopping 6 home runs for the Yankees tonight, compared to just 2 for the Twins (who had their game rain shortened to 7 innings), puts the Bronx Bombers back in control of the home run race.

Yankees - 305 HR
Twins - 303 HR

This is going to be some series next week. Even if a team is something like 4 or 5 runs behind, in like the 6th inning, it still won't be over. The teams basically play the same game, I just think we do it better then they do, and we have a much better bullpen (and maybe even a better starting staff, since it seems like Paxton was just removed as a precaution).

game 160;
yanks scored one more touchdown than tex.
mvp dj gets his 100+ rbi.
daily old school redmen savage of the game award goes to - maybin, ford, romine.
cant wait to see how Stanton does in the playoffs.
the Scranton slingers were once again in action - 9 pitchers.

Yankees - 305 HR
Twins - 304 HR

This is going down to the last day. Since everyone plays at the same time on Sunday, I'll try and keep a running tally on here, but no guarantees.

The lineups for home run derby day, a prelude to next week's ALDS, if you will. Individual home run totals in parentheses.

Yankees (305 team HR):
LeMahieu 1B (26)
Judge RF (26)
Gardner CF (28)
Stanton DH (3)
Torres 2B (38)
Sanchez C (34)
Gregorius SS (16)
Urshela 3B (21)
Maybin LF (11)

Twins (304 team HR):
Wade Jr. LF (2)
Polanco SS (22)
Sano DH (34)
Cron 1B (24)
Cave CF (7)
Schoop 2B (23)
Castro C (12)
Torreyes 3B (0)
Miller RF (0)

So, the Twins are resting more of their regulars. The Yankees however, are facing a better pitcher. Texas held Lance Lynn back for this game, since it is the last one ever at Globe Life Park (I think I speak for all Yankees fans when I say, I will miss this place).

Like I said, I'll try to keep a running tally. It's just a fun thing to do for a meaningless last day of the season, IMO.

CJ Cron of the Twins has hit a 2 run homer in the top of the first inning. We're tied at 305.

EDIT: Jake Cave makes it back-to-back. 306-305, Twins. Not a good start in this race.

ALL RISE! HERE COMES THE JUDGE!... We're tied at 306.

Yankees only have 6 innings left to bat though, barring extras, while the Twins have 7.

Whats going to happen when after all this it ends in a tie. How disappointed will you be?

Jason Castro has homered for the Twins in the top of the 5th, and they have gone back ahead, 307 home runs, to 306.

A tie would be justice, IMO, since they've been going back and forth, for awhile now. Bigger disappointment would be to lose it, since I like the Yankees to have as many home run records as possible.

Unfortunately, we just fell behind, again.

Minnesota has won the home run race, as the Yankees are finished with 306.

Oh well, we'll get them for that next week!

162 games over. regular season over. thhhhhhhhhhhhe yankees win the al east.
IMVHO - winners/less winners.
front office - record setting injuries, many to key players. won triple digit games while saving future prospects.
manager - when finally figuring out his bullpen. see above (front office).
yankee mvp - dj - lead team in rbis, runs, batt avg. rbis leader while batting leadoff. yanks lead league in runs scored. yankee sticks is the big reason why they won 100 plus.
al mvp - the first article I saw had the al mvp candidates as bogaerts, devers, dj, bergman, trout.
only bergman & dj are on playoff teams. 5 teams of 15 made playoffs.
dj's multi position glove allowed boone to mix/match his infield defense. big key to yanks lineup/injury jinx.
the annual old school redmen roller coaster of the year award goes to the speedster. career high hrs/rbi. he is batting leadoff, batting last, on the bench, batting 7th, etc..
the annual old school redmen savage of the year award goes to - limited to non starters and playing less than 100 games - ford - 50 games - team leading slugging %. honorable mention - romine, the tauch. hale also gets honorable mention - goes into season as 32 year old with 70 mlb games/20 decisions/2 saves.
the annual old school redmen why was he even born award is shared by many - all due to injuries - bird - 10 games/ 1 xbh, andujar - 12 games, no xbh, betances, monty, sevy - 1, 2, 3 games played.
.
Voit being on the roster over Ford is a big mistake, IMO.
Totally agree. Ford has been much better the last few weeks and is a slightly better fielder.
