Yankees - 2019

Congrats to the Scranton Railriders for winning a one game playoff over Syracuse (Mets affiliate) for IL Northern Division title.

I do not have the guts to post this in the Mets thread (it would be trolling if I did) but:

Scranton trailed 7-1 in the 7th, before scoring 5 runs to get within 1.

Syracuse extended the lead to 13-6 with a six run top of the 8th inning.

Scranton came back with 8 runs in the bottom of the eighth, and held on in the 9th to win 14-13.

Also, the Scranton catcher, Kyle Higashioka (whose been up with the big club when Sanchez has been hurt the last two years), had a 2 homer game, going deep in both innings of the comeback, matching Gary Sanchez's feat tonight.

Talk about irony all around.

Proof that I'm not lying to you with this post.

What's most amazing about this accomplishment is think of how many players the big club has taken from Scranton. Not like Scranton is crawling with the top prospects necessarily but Jay Bell is pulling the right strings down there. He was talked about briefly during Yankees managerial search and I'm sure he will continue to be mentioned during searches.
James Paxton’s last 7 starts:

7-0, 2.98 ERA
Have the announcers said if Paxton's doing anything different? I think they said Tanaka changed his grip on his slider, finally accepting that his old grip wouldn't work on the new baseball with smaller seams.

Paxton has been throwing his backdoor curve more.

Game141. Another fine outing for the Yankee starter. Will di di and the other yanks just give up on trying to bunt.

These 4 games are going to last longer then the Jerry Lewis telethon.

Not only do the Red Sox have 21 pitchers on their active roster, but they are going with openers today and tomorrow. Get comfortable watching the games.

Game 142. Not easy to win scoring one run. How Boston scored 4. First batter couldda shoudda been called out on strikes. Next 2 batters make out. Next batter, the Yankee second baseman blows the ground ball. 4 runs later the inning is over. Boone brings in his Scranton pitchers and the game is over. Watching hour glass Sanchez getting gunned down at the plate with 2 outs was the next low light.

Really disappointed how flat they came out against their chief rival and a bag of balls pitching staff.

Game 143 .another very good outing by the yankee starter. Bravo edwin. Thank you Boston. "Defense" Adam o continues his streak of no 1.2.3 innings.

Bonilla is the poster boy for bad contracts, but at least the Mets were smart enough to spread the payments out- calculated as $30 million for 1 year. The Yanks paid this guy 21 million this year, 21 million last year, owe 21 million for 2020 and on the hook for a 5 million buy out in 2021. All this for as many AB's I will have.

IMO, the Mets come out second best again.

After the 1999 season, the Mets released Bonilla but Instead of paying him the $6M he was owed outright, they agree to pay him $1M a year until 2035. How many guys who are in the MLB will be playing in 2035, yet the Mets on July 1st of that year will be paying Bobby Bonilla another mil. Oh and he has another deferred deal that pays him $500K until 2029.

game 144. Tanaka not sharp. Adam o continues his streak of no 1.2.3 innings. 3 more. Getty goners. Edwin again is the man.
