Yankees - 2019

Judge is looking bad at the plate, I won't kill him or anything, but only one multiple hit game in the last 15:
AB 60
R 9
H 11
HR 1
RBI 2
BB 9
SO 22
SB 0
AVG 183
OBP 300
SLG 283

Now I'm gonna say I know he can turn it around and hope he does, because we'll miss him.

Now I'll wait for the "we're 37 games over 500" "I'm ashamed to be a yankee fan" and yadda yadda yadda lol.
thats all but but it doesn't change the fact that he still looks bad.

The stats don't include tonight dont tonight in which he K's twice
Yet he’s batting 274 and his career average is 273.

But yes something isn’t right because of his lack of power more. And how I can’t remember the last time he truly pulled a HR.
Exactly, only 3 doubles in those 15.
You want to looking with more games? Ok, 5 hr's in from july 1st til now.
As far as where he hits those hrs, I'll see if I can find a chart.

On my phone so don't know how to cut and paste, but if you looked at the chart, it's just left of dead center to right field

I always been against the computer calling balls and strikes, but I do think umpires has a grudge against certain players/teams, either that or these idiots suckkkkkkkkkk.
So I wave the white flag, and hope they let the computer call it. Atleast you'll know the computer doesn't have a grudge.

On another note Thornton is perfect through 4

Glad I jinxed him

Well, it took until the 5th inning, but that is now 200 consecutive regular season games without being shutout (205 total).

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but it always seems like there is a good looking women serving food behind home plate in Toronto. Just saying.

It's good Tanaka today. With 61 pitches throu 5 I'm hoping he can go 8.
Britton you just can't trust, 2 more walks yesterday for him.
In Baltimore he had good controll and all he got was ground ball outs.
well post injury, Britton he isn't the same. Injuries suck.

82 through 7, plus Britton threw 25 yesterday. You gotta think Tanalka will pitch the 8th.

Hmmm Tanaka getting the call for the 9th.
When was the last time Chapmam pitched?

August 5th, he was warming up, making.
Well here he comes.

Chapman needs to at least pitch every 3 days to stay sharp. I don't get how he hasnt pitched in almost a week with the way this staff operates.

My guess it’s Because he’s also a closer and they often struggle to pitch in non save situations.

Problem is as Moose stated some closers (including him) sometimes have trouble in non save situations. Then you bring him in a none save opportunity, and then use him the next day, you aren’t going to use him 3 days in a row even if you need him. I do agree that six days between appearances (Monday in Baltimore) is too long.

In recent years, the Yankees have been criticized (sometimes fairly, sometimes not) for being a "home run or nothing" offense.

Well, when this team plays the Orioles, it's a "home run, or the next guy hits a home run" offense. And, if neither one of those guys hits a homer, you just know that Gleyber Torres will eventually.

After tomorrow, I will miss playing these guys. It's been fun.

Yeah, unfortunately won't see them again until March 28 to open next season.

Minor league team, wtf do fans in baltimore spend good money to watch crap? Oh because they're die hards. I'm a die hard fan of my teams also, but my motto is, if the owner of my team doesn't care, then i wont spend money on then, unless the ticket prices are dirt cheap.
I mean imagine spend $150 to watch.that, if i want to watch a monor leagues team, I'd go to a minor leaguestadium and spend a hell of a lot less.

Well since i posted this on friday, and Friday's game wasn't included:
2 - 12 0Rbi's. Is he hurt, or is it just his new hitting approach? If the hitting coach was this to be his approach then he needs to be fired, because Judge sucks hitting like this.
Please go back to the old approach.

Judge isn't hitting like in the past two seasons:
Slugging %s:
'17 0.627
'18 0.528
'19 0.463

He's only played in about half the games. So comparing his year to past years may not be completely fair.

If he were to have enough at bats to qualify, a .463 slugging % for this year, currently equates to 80th out of 135 qualifying players in MLB.

So for MLB, his slugging is mediocre, at best. Considering he's playing right field, which is a power position; he's probably in the poor hitting category.

Or put another way, considering the Yankees alone, for players that have played more than 25 games this year:
Judge has the 12th best slugging %. So he's only 12th best on the team, and he's playing right-field.

As a Yankee fan, we can only be hopeful that because of his injuries, maybe he can get back into somewhat normal form in this last month coming up. But maybe not. Maybe something is nagging him - but the math shows that he's not hitting like he used to / he needs to be, to be an average right fielder.

Once they started calling the low strike on him, his season took a turn for the worse. He has to swing at it, but because he has to go so far down to get it, it results only in lazy fly balls to right field.

Plus, since he goes to RF at such a large rate, teams will play him that way. We always like to say that you can't go to the opposite field too often, but with charts, analytics, etc. they'll find you eventually, wherever you go. You almost need to be more like DJ, and hit to all fields about equally.

I do think Judge will make the adjustment eventually. but it might not happen until next year, when he gets a full offseason, and spring training, to work on this stuff.

I once saw O'Neill swing at a pitch around his ankles, he went down and golfed it, and he crushed it. That's what Aaron needs to do, maybe crouch alittle and get ready for it.

Although there are exceptions, most lefties are low ball hitters, and most righties are high ball hitters. Also, O'Neill was tall, but Judge is taller. Not going to be easy for him to do that.
