Yankees - 2018

Four and a half innings complete at the Trop: Rays 5, Red Sox 0. Tampa going for the sweep, which would be a first for the Red Sox this season.

This consecutive season winning streak is perhaps the most unnoticed and underappreciated thing about being a Yankee fan this last quarter century. Drives me nuts when Yankee fans take it for granted, especially when accounting for other teams they may root for (like the Jets, Knicks, or our own Johnnies). Yes, the payroll ability was a significant factor, but we've seen every other big market/high payroll team bottom out during this period, sometimes for multiple stretches. Yanks have successfully rebuilt and reloaded during this period with the driving force being player development and shrewd trades.

yanks sweep 4 games from the 3rd worse lineup in mlb.
sevy again did not look sharp.
boone went with louis in late innings over bird & stayed with a righty batter versus righty pitcher. louis then singled.

monday's loss was an ugly game all around.
the sox's first 3 scorers got on by walk, 80 foot dribbler, 85 foot dribbler.
their 4th run came in on our left fielder's error.
their last 2 runs came in with no ball leaving the infield.
the yanks had 3 hits, 3 errors.
the yanks b team was not up to the task.

Weird year for the Yanks. First half, with relatively a full team, they were great to watch and you could not tune out. Now, they are very pedestrian. Hopefully, when they are restocked, they can regain that form.

Baseball is a long roller coaster of a season. Yanks will win between 100-105 games this year, probably closer to the high end. As a Mets fan, I would love to be that pedestrian.

Yeah how many fans of other clubs would kill to be 30 games over 500. Leading MLB in HRs and haven't had two of the their power hitters for extended periods of time.

Yeah Moose, all of that is great, but imagine being 40+ over 500, and play in the one game elimination game after having a great season. Better pray that Oakland get the wild card also, because if Houston gets the WC game, we'll be going against Verlander.
So yeah, a great season, I'd just rather avoid that one game BS elimination game.
Should be a best of 3 at the least.

I want to play the 1 game playoff. It's more fun

Of course I don't want to play that. But the team is 30 games over 500. Come on man. I get it. You're not pleased. But if before the year started I told you they would be 30 over you would sign for it in blood. If after the first two weeks when they were mediocre and I said 30 over you would again sign up for it. I get the need to push further. But let's be real.

hicksie - abc u later, ties it up in the 8th[

walker walk off - thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe yankees win

Exactly - it is a joy to be a Yankee fan and has been that way forever. If you root for bad or mediocre teams, you should appreciate them even more.

I want to avoid the WC game, but the system is what it is. I have no qualms with that because in the not-too-distant past teams won 100 games and didn't have make the playoffs. You want to avoid the WC game - win the division. Period. If you have a great year but another team has an insane year (as Boston is doing), you live with it.

I'm convinced Boone is the worst manager in baseball.

Betances gives up back-to-back bombs but keeps him in.
The same with Cole vs the Mets. Hell, Cole gave up 3 and Boone still kept him in, then the next guys walks, thennnnnnnn the genius Boone takes him out.

is there an mlb team that gives up more infield hits than the yankees b team infield?

i am the least fan of gardner in my household.
but he is one of the fastest base runners in baseball
he gets a terrific jump on balls hit to the outfield.
his base running instincts are way above average.
his base running blunder in yesterday's game was game changing.

After the back to back homers, Betrances got the next two outs on strikeouts (gave up three runs, yet struck out the side).

The problem was the damn walk and the back to back homers. Gardner gets thrown out at third on Hicks, single when he barely touched second when the right fielder had the ball and Stanton was up next. Dumb. Not saying The same result (Stanton homerun) would have happened but Gardner is a veteran, he has to use better judgement.

If Judge comes back, maybe McCutchen takes some of Gardiner’s ABs. He is looking terrible.

Gardner has never been a good August/September player. Gives max effort every single game, which leads to his body wearing down. He is literally the only player I have wanted to actually play less hard then he does.

McCutchen can be a big help to them in the postseason if they can get healthy and get by the wild card game.
