Yankees - 2018

The last time Boston lost 2 in a row? June 20th. Two months ago! I agree that the division is over. The only team I wouldn't want to see in the wildcard is Houston. Let's hope that happens.

thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe yankees win in 12.
thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe red sox lose 3 in row.
marlins had bases loaded in 9th & 11th and scored zip.
Greene working out of that jam in the 9th was awesome!
An even better job by AJ Cole in the 11th. I didn't think he had a chance of getting out of that one!

When we start looking back on losses that should have been wins at the end of the year, this game negates one of those losses. Yankees really had no business winning it.

memorable look backs.
it is august in the 1970s. i am at the big ball orchard in the south bronx. yanks are down deep in the standings.
yanks losing 3 to 0. it is the top of the 9th.
first guy up hits a home run, yanks down 4 to 0.
next guy up hits a triple.
my friend bob says to me for the first time in his life, i am leaving now before the game is over.
i stay. the yanks win that game. yanks win world series that season.
over the winter, one of the yankees in an interview states, when we won that august game 5 to 4, we knew we could win it all.

A first baseman hitting .203 is a huge hole in any lineup. Bird has had enough of a chance; he is not the answer.

Tonight's game was painful to watch. The use of our bullpen leaves much to be desired. We should have annihilated this team. Instead, we actually made them look good.

Its crazy how a team over 30 games above 500 is so bad against the Mets, Marlins, and Orioles who are a combined 93 games under 500.

I don't know why Bird is not down at AAA working out his issues.

Who are you going to replace him with? Luke Voight? Tyler Wade? That's not much of an upgrade, if it's one at all. The lineup is down 3 key cogs already, 4 if you count Clint Frazier.

And I think Bird knows that! Bad situation all around.
Walker at 1st, Wade at 2nd until DIdi returns.
How is that going to fix anything? All you're doing is taking out 1 .200 hitter for another, except Wade does not nearly have Bird's power.

Torreyes actually would help for a few days, but he's shown in the past that when you play him too much, his production goes down.

Saw this on Twitter last night-

Regardless of batting order/position, this Yankees lineup has started 3 games together the entire year. Last time was 6/15
C Sanchez
1B Bird
2B Torres
3B Andujar
SS Gregorius
LF Gardner
CF Hicks
RF Judge
DH Stanton

But as they say, every team has injuries. You need your backups to step up

But sometimes, you're backups just are not as good. Because of Clint Frazier's injury, Aaron Judge's roster replacement is Shane Robinson. On Robinson's best day, he's not nearly as good as Judge on his worst.

Yes, it's a sexy cliche to say "next man up", but the truth is, backups are backups for a reason.

Sure. If the team was struggling. But they are over 30 games above 500. Imagine if that lineup played together more is the point

and on a non JIM rice reference, yanks took twin bill from the only mlb team officially eliminated from the playoffs.
dear mr. bird, than you, but louis is the man i would go to at 1st base.
papa should be an unanimous ROY award winner.
