Yankees - 2018

Nick Swisher goes yard in the Old Timer's game. Still a fan favorite. A big kid.

Chapman is having a great year, but I'm worried that he is getting overused. Last few games, the zip on the fastball has not been there.

Yesterday's performance by Sonny Gray only reinforces in my mind that he should never pitch again at Yankee Stadium this year.

a win for the ages. drama in the bronx.
beating wild card rival, the head hunting mariners.
dramatic getty goners. the most prolific bronx bomber team of all time.

The bombs can come from anywhere in the lineup. They are an exciting team to watch.

How sweep it is.
The 2-run HRs by Judge and Andujar help up today
Took 5 of 7 from Houston, swept seattle.

The 98 Yanks were 53-19 through 72 games, were 3 behind those guys at 50-22.
lol we gotta win the next 17 just to equal them at 67-22, that team was freaking amazing. I'm not expecting 114 wins this year, this is just for fun.
Maybe go 18-3 in the next 21 and catch the 98 team at 68-25. Never know.
Even if this team does that, the 98 team went 24-5 in the next 29 to go to 92-30.
These guys would have to go 42-8 in the next 50.

The best part about those guys 20yrs ago? To me actually was in 1999, Seattle won 115 games, they fans were saying they're the best, but to be the best they had to finish the job and win the whole damn thing, but the Yanks denied them and we won it in 99. That was so damn sweet.

The Seattle Mariners' 2001 season was the 25th since the franchise's inception. The season saw the Mariners obtain a record of 116–46, tying the Major League record for wins set by the Chicago Cubs in 1906 and setting the record for wins by an American League team.

My bad, thought it was the very next year. Crappy memory.

OSR, CapM, frank61, sec10, TonyF, SJU61982 et al.
Well this year is healing my bones and my soul from the day my Dad (who fought the Japanese in Burma WWII & who taught me to be a Yankee fan) and I sat on the couch in Brooklyn and watched the Pirates - of all teams - beat our 1960 Yanks.
What a terrific direction we are headed - though my son (who I have taught to be a Yankee fan) disagrees - I would still chase a 2-3 starting pitcher.
all the best -
General Grant Class of 1843

PS Abner Doubleday - West Point Class of 1842, fought in the Mexican, Indian and Civil Wars - credited (whether true or not) with creating baseball in his own backyard.

Domingo German in the past 3 starts, he looks great
19innings, 2BB, 28Ks and 3.332 ERA.
You might want to say he's our #4 SP, he's looking better then Sonny.
Smoltz: "German is going to take elite steps that will make him look like an elite guy down the road, if they stay patient and keep him in the rotation."
And look at our minor league pitching prospect: Adams, Medina, Perez, Sauer, Stephen.
The next wave. We're loaded.
Sheffield, too. Might be the most MLB ready.
I agree.
Sheffield in AAA: Scranton/WB INT AAA W1 L2 ERA3.03 G7 GS7 0 0 0 0 IP32.2 H24 R13 ER11 HR1 1 16 0 33 .203 1.22 1.00

in last 6 games he had one bad game at AAA where he gave up 6ER
in those other 5: 23IP, 16H, 3ER, 9BB, 26Ks

On the other hand Adams is getting rocked at AAA 5.21ERA in 14GS.

Lose two in a row to TB, unacceptable!
Boone has got to go!
Just kidding. An homage to The Boss.

LOL.

Sanchez likely to DL I just read. We'll see how many of the people who complain about his shortcomings (or subpar year to date) like being without him for a few weeks.

You can make the case that it has already hurt us. If we had Sanchez on deck in the 12th, then the Rays might not have been so quick to give Stanton an intentional pass (though he was on fire today, so they might have anyway).

Of course, the real fault here lies with the designers of Tropicana Field. Frazier's ball in the ninth inning might have been out, except it hit the stupid speaker, and landed in the shortstop's glove. I've never been to the Trop (but I may go next year, because my mother is moving to Tampa next weekend), but if they tore it down tomorrow, I don't think anyone would miss it.
