I mean they team is one of the two best teams in baseball and leads the league in HRs practically 1st in runs scored and after winning a 13 inning game you worry about what their bats will do in the postseason?

Dream on, you are not getting deGrom in this lifetime unless you are willing to give up Torres, Torryess, Frazier and Sheffield.

Telling any met fan right now though, Torres stays a Yankee, don't like it then keep Jacob, and let him walk as a FA.
There are other good pitchers out there.

I am not against the Mets - despite what the fabulous Joe Beningo of WFAN insists is impossible - I wish the Mets well.
However I am grateful that starting in the 1950s my Dad taught me to be a Yankees’ fan. And as most loyal (Yankee) fans know one must endure disappointments and dark ages ( think losing to the Pirates in 1969 and to the Diamondbacks in 2001 (when after 9/11 it would have been so apt for NYC to have a champion) 2004 losing to the Red Sox after being up in games 3-0, and the late 1960s and late 1980s when we were an awful last place team.
But what can a Yankee fan say other then express words similar to the great Lou Gehrig did - we are fortunate, very fortunate. And this team and it’s young talent, wow!

Well, I love Joe Beningo but my dad—an original NY baseball Giants fan even though from Brooklyn—always supported my ardor for the Yankees and when the Mets were born, we rooted fo them AND the Yankees.
Just the way it is.
In fact, there’s a novel around—an urban crime drama set in the South Bronx, pitting the NY Yankees against the NY Mets in the 7th Game of the 2016 World Series.
Some say that ‘game’ may still be going on...
It can happen.

Like I said in my earlier post, German has the potential to be a decent starter. Maybe not a star, but a decent fifth starter.

Yes, that is the first World Series I remember with real clarity. Remember listening to it in my friend's backyard on a small transistor radio. Real tough loss. The series that made Bill Mazeroski (in)famous in NY.

One of the worst days of my young life. My older cousin from Pittsburgh was staying with us in the Bronx and we listened to the game on the radio. He sent me a reminder 50 years later on the date.
 
:huh: As an avid Brooklyn Dodger fan I disliked the Yankees, however before my freshmen year at St.John's I was invited by the Yanks to spend the two months in the summer working out at the heraled stadium. They have always been a classy outfit, in fact the only team I tried out for that gave us lunch each day and the use of their uniform. Their locker room was special compared to the Polo Grounds and Ebbets Field. I can't believe I just wrote this about the hated Yankees.

the plate was very, very wide for both teams. hard to get a rally going.
 
As a Mets fan it's never been more obvious how different the organizations are especially on the administrative level. The Mets must have the worst ownership in all of baseball consistently. For all the benefits that come along with being a major market team in a baseball-crazed city and our own network, the Mets have more than underachieved...they can't do any worse.
 
It's time to slide Torres and Andujar up the batting order. At least until some of the other guys start hitting. Boone needs to send a message that Bird, Sanchez and Stanton need to start producing if they wanna bat 3-4-5. This lineup will be flat out terrifying once those three guys figure it out in the regular season.
 
But the question is if they figure it out. Their at bats are horrible. Actually, throughout this lineup the at bats are really not very good. I walked away from this series feeling like it was a loss, given the result last night with your ace on the mound. Should have been a sweep.

I never liked the Stanton deal, his contract will be a huge problem once some of the baby bombers need to get paid. Though there is very little to complain about, I agree with the lineup issues. It feels like everyone is swinging for the HR or looking to walk. At some point balls need to get hit and score some runs using small ball. As I've stated before, this will be an issue in the post season when all you face is good to elite pitching. Bird and Sanchez will figure it out, those guys are tremendous hitters and are thought of extremely highly within the organization. Both would be .300 hitters if they wanted to sacrifice the power.

Well it was Otani or Stanton and one is looking a lot better right about now.

Agree about the bad calls, especially against Stanton. Definitely a pitchers umpire last night. Happy for that. Umps have been terrible this year.
