OK. Someone give me a convincing reason why Sonny Gray is pitching again at Yankee Stadium. Girardi wasn’t renewed as Yankee Manager because Cashman wanted an analytics guy, like Boone. Well, the analytics clearly show that Sonny Gray cannot pitch his way out of a paper bag at Yankee Stadium. His stats at home are horrible.. ARGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
And w Tanaka doesn’t be pitch better at night - or is it better at day - the point is if you clearly pitch better away or at home or at night or during the day - go for it!
Maximize your chances for a W - similar to being a relief versus a starting pitcher imo
Let’s go Bombers
Let’s go Redmen!
You really don't want to mess up the rotation with that kind of stuff.
A few years back, when we had Bartolo Colon and Freddy Garcia both pitching well, someone came back from injury (I forget who) and Girardi decided that, since no one was worthy of being taken out, he would go to a six man rotation. That threw CC Sabathia way out of whack, and he was terrible for about a month or so.
In Gray’s case, you have to. His ERA at home is 8.23. In 36 innings pitched at home, he’s given up 49 hits and 33 earned runs and eight home runs while striking out 25.
On the road, in 46.2 innings pitched, his ERA is 3.28, he’s given up 40 hits, 17 earned runs, two home runs and struck out 48.
If these analytics don’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does. And why this is, I don’t know. But it is.
Maybe Sanchez should have been catching him along. Was ridiculous, IMHO, to give in to this guy and have Romine be his catcher. He hasn’t yet earned that kind of influence over Boone.
