I think the exact opposite. Id have posh come off the bench to spell Curbelo.
That is crazy. Curbello is responsible for more turn overs, forced plays etc. And his defense sucks for the most part. Posh is our proven guy. Curbelo was a mistake. He should come off the bench, get decent minutes, as a change of pace guy...

Mathis success this year is in large part due to him not having the ball in his hands. He is being set up well and most importantly, to his credit, is not forcing it. If there’s one thing I don’t want to change, it is how he is being used.
I agree with you. However, playing the 2G does not have to change how Mathis has been used. His negatives as the 2G are less than Posh or Curbelo platying the 2G.

I think I was the only one on here that really pushed for his firing after last year, and thought it was a mistake to bring him back. Even Mark Schmidt or King Rice would have been a better option, if not the sexiest names. "Of course, I wanted Tim Cluess last time around, so it shows you what I know."

Although I saw things almost from the start that I was concerned about, my main gripe is that he is too "old school.". His big mistake, IMO, was essentially kicking Moore and Cole off the team, either because he didn't like their style of play, and/or their attitudes. Who knows what went on there, but you have to live with it sometimes. I don't know if those guys had any eligibility left, but they would have helped this team (last year, too). Moore would be another banger inside with at least some offensive game, and Cole could at least hit the occasional three. Anderson seems to want a very specific kind of player, and I'm not sure that kind of player exists. Sadly, Wusu is probably the closest thing to it on this team (at least Mathis is justifying his playing time this year).

I also wish he tailored his game plans more to the opponent. He just seems to believe his style will win out in the end. I'd have less of a problem with this, if he had someone on the bench to help him out with this. I have no issue with the assistants who are here, but they seem to function primarily as the Coach's mouthpiece (at least during games).

Lastly, he's a good, decent, sane guy, in a profession dominated by crazy men who break all sorts of rules. In the end, that could be the most difficult obstacle of all.
I agree. Should have been hired after Lavin was let go or even far back after Norm. Cluess would've been a great hire. He can coach, recruit and wins.

The bottom line is you can’t just play a 10 minute game where you spot your opponent 18 points and expect to win.

Soft as tissue paper in the first half. Too much Wusu. Curbelo has a terrible attitude. Got yanked and goes in the tunnel. Nice run and fans were great. CMA didn't have them ready but he can't play the game. Ref called me a jerk and was a crybaby. Also, everyone knows I'm an a-hole not a jerk...

You are 100% correct. Cabello should be our six man. He is hurting posh’s Game. Push needs the ball in his hands as a pt guar. Either store or Pinzón what is zoo should be to God. If he is having a poor showing who needs a breather Cabello should come in and be the point God. End of story if the coach does not realize this so long and bring in Pitino. Dan Fogg

You realize he never would have coached a game here, because of his health, right? That's why I added that line at the end.

You forgot he also rides off with $8-10 Million Dollars of St John ‘s money , over the 4 lack luster years . Plus whatever is negotiated as his buyout . He isn’t going to improve this Program and it should be apparent to every fan , Alum, Donor , Media , etc . We might also want to add the name of Greg St Jean to any possible list of candidates . In addition to Chris Mack , The Pitinos , etc . St Jean is highly regarded on BB Circles and has the SJU connection under Mullin . That shouldn’t disqualify him in my opinion . He’s young and can relate to Players . We could and have done worse .
Don't see how we can role the dice with St. Jean considering his lack of coaching experience, although I would love someone young and hungry. 4 of our last 5 hires have been older and not particularly hungry. Jarvis and Lav were hungry for a bit, but it didn't last. The one exception to someone young is Pitino. In spite of his age, I'm pretty sure he's still as hungry now as he's ever been.

One positive, as another poster mentioned, Wusu was vocal in the huddles. He was stressing the need to box out and rebound. It's a small consolation, but I definitely appreciate him a little more today.
Wusu looks like the one kid who is completely engaged and commited for all 40 minutes. Not saying other kids don't give it their all, but all of them looked distracted or disinterested or demoralized or disgusted (in time-outs)at one point or another. As much as I hated last night's "all access" broadcast, it did us real in-game insight to the the staff and the kids, especially during play stoppages

I still think that Chris Mack would be the perfect hire for this program. He’s young enough to be around a while, he’s had a lot of success in this league already, his Big East recruiting channels probably still intact to a certain extent and he brings instant credibility with no baggage.

Curbello does not gripe and throw his hands up like posh is doing every time he takes a terrible shot or loses the ball. Posh really needs to put his hands down and keep after it. Stop complaining in the middle of the game.
If the team can play with energy like they did at the end. The scheme could work. But it really has to be consistent. Not just five minutes a night. The shot at the end of the half is indicative of playing calling. Dribble on top of the key rush the hoop with seconds left and throw up a terrible shot. How about a pick and roll?
A team cannot play with that kind of energy for anywhere near close to 40 minutes, and therein lays the problem

I know you feel differently, but I don't want another coach who was fired from his last stop.

When it's time for him to get back in, he will have better offers than SJU. And, he knows that.
