It looks like the Xavier game brought out the Pitino dreams once again. Would Pitino really want to coach at a program where he will not have the facilities and other advantages, cough cough, he had at Louisville and U. of Kentucky? I'm not as sure as everyone else. I'm also not sure he would be a guaranteed path to the top of the conference. However, there is no doubt he would by far be the best coaching mind the school has had perhaps ever.
Ultimately, the answer to the post Looie years of futility may require an analysis of what it takes to win consistently at this level, and then implement a plan to get the job done based on reality and not wishful thinking.Just blaming everything on the revolving door of coaches since Looie retired is hiding from the deficiencies that resulted in all of these years of failure. You don't need a consulting firm to figure that out. just ask a coach who has won consistently at a power conference, and they will explain it all in 5 minutes.
