Xavier, Wed., Dec. 20, 7p, FS1

Lots of changes from Pitino tonight.

- Played lots of zone that Xavier didn't seem prepared for
- More Alleyne, something that will likely be a constant going forward.
- Shortened rotation. Played 8 guys mostly and then very limited minutes for Sim and Conway.
- More Dingle at PG. Dingle took over the PG role when Jenkins went out and even played it some when Jenkins was in. Dingle also played with the ball in his hands during Sim's few minutes.

Xavier's bigs are pretty bad and that is going to stop them from picking up enough wins in the BE to make the tourney.

One thing I'm begging Pitino to do is limit the amount of midrange shots this team takes. Way too many guys settle for 14-18 footers and not only is it the least efficient shot in basketball, we don't make many of them either. Jenkins, Dingle, Ledlum, Alleyne, and Soriano all take way too many midrange shots. The only one that doesn't is Taylor. Drives me crazy

Thoughts on this one…

Best we’ve looked all year.

-Dingle looks so confident when Jenkins is out of the game. They are just completely incompatible.

-Jenkins will foul out of every Big East game if he doesn’t change something majorly on defense. 0 FTs again on the other end.

-Taylor is the kind of kid you want to adopt and live with you as a coach. Selfless player.

-Alleyne is, at worst, the second best player on this team. We have to get him shots.

-Traore was great with his skill from the top of key…entry passes and shots. Scraping the ceiling of his limited talent. Can’t ask for more.

Ledlum needs to pass more. He can be a weapon there.

Offensive rebounding will be what makes this team dance if they do.
When we first got Alleyne I said he would be our second best player by years end

Marillac, I know you love exaggeration, but are you saying that Alleyne is possibly a better player for us than Joel? Seems a bit extreme, even for you.
Stay in the SouthSide of the basement . Until relieved from duty .

Alleyne is a big time player. Perfect for Pitino . Great defender and Dangerous shooter from anywhere.

He should see significant PT the rest of the season. .

Every time I get mad at Ledlum for clunking a jumper or getting stuffed on a drive, he dives for a loose ball or fights hard for a rebound. He is finding it tougher to score against the length and athleticism of the high major forwards and centers, but he gives maximum effort and takes a lot of bumps along the way.
