And if we see Maker again this season it'll only be in a blowout. Marillac's hill to die on, I get it, but if you think Vince needs work, Maker needs to be rebuilt, physically and hoopswise. He has more potential only in that he's younger with more years of eligibility to work towards being a viable D1 player. Like I said 3rd year. Now excuse me while I go listen to Fables of the Reconstruction.
Maker is being redshirted.

Don't understand why he was not selected to be at the press conference. Usually, the players who had a major impact on the game are chosen. He should have been chosen over one of the two players selected, probably Richmond. Scott's play had the most impact on the game
He was picked to do pre game press conference which you can see on Red Storm site. They rotate.

This is sarcasm, right? He has the worst timing and uses the worst angles of anyone I have ever seen in a St. John’s uniform. He has no clue who to cover and at one point was double-teaming a corner shooter until his teammate literally threw him back to the paint.

When he’s in the game, everyone who knows basketball holds their breath for Zuby.
Acknowledge that he does play smaller at times. However, I think he played well last night

I don’t think Vince is that bad. If we see the same improvement from him that we saw from Zuby at the end of last season we’ll be in good shape.
I feel very comfortable saying that's not going to happen. I expect him to be pretty much what he is, which is fine....until that game when Zuby gets in foul trouble. ( and yes, I just knocked on everything wood within 15 feet of me).

I will say this about Vince: offensively he's OK. Decent touch and footwork around the rim, has actually made a couple of nice passes out of the post. But I have literally never seen any 7'1" player have less of a defensive impact than him. I watch every minute of every game, I cant recall him altering a shot. A few blocks but not one guy changing his shot to account for him. Usually that happens a few times just by existing at 7'1. He's constantly out of position. Marillac's hyberbolic hatred of the kid is entertaining, but when it comes to his D he's not totally crazy. Any improvements he makes between now and the end of season need to happen there.

Vince has potential but I fully understand Marillac's frustrations with him. However I absolutely agree that the height, athletic ability and touch require making the investment in him and seeing if the holes can be plugged.

Worst case scenario he turns out to be one of those guys who looks like a player but isn't. Justin Burrell was a bit like that (though he got no coaching along with everyone else on that roster).
Burrell is still playing overseas and has had long career. He was also on Overseas Elite championship teams in the Basketball Tournament.

Maker is being redshirted.
Because he has so much more potential than Vince........LOL!
Welcome to the NIL world where kids who redshirt...... transfer.
BTW.......Pitino doesn't believe in redshirting players......if the kid is not developing, Rick doesn't want him on his "did not progress" record......especially since father time is biting Rick on the ass.

Why would you waste a year on a freshman big man whose body isn’t ready?

San Diego Stare redshirted 7’0 Magoon Gwath for the same reason last year and he’s playing 23 mpg averaging 3 blocks and 7 pts and has started every game. He’s 10x the player Vince is.

I just finished watching the game again and I really enjoyed the nuances that I missed the first time, especially Wilcher's game. I hope he just had a breakout and will be contributing big time in the future! Kadary was awesome and I also hope that this was his breakout game. If these two contribute for the rest of the year like they did last night, we are going to make a deep run in the tourney!

Magoon was NOT redshirted for "body development"....SDSU didn't need him because they had Pal (6'9) and LeDee (6'9) up front. He's getting more minutes because those two are gone!

Magoon was UNRANKED by all the major recruiting services.

Vince was a 4 star top 50 recruit for USC......before his near fatal heart episode.
He was rated higher than a guy named Donovan Clingan.

As for Maker, who was offered by a bunch of other power 5 teams, this was the headline in the NY POST:

"Maker’s mark: 2024 four-star center Khaman Maker commits to St. John’s"

What would it look like to future 4 and 5 star recruits if you are correct?????????
Go to play for Rick Pitino and get redshirted and blackballed by a savant named Marillac😉
Thankfully, the thickness of your skull will protect you from your info fail and fall.
