@Xavier, Tue., Jan. 7 , 6:30p, FS-1

I will concede that RJ passes the ball at least 35% of the time when he has no other choice. The other 65% of the time when he has no other choice, not so much. The boy is the reincarnation of Zendon Hamilton as a wing. As the guy across the aisle from me in my old seats at Alumni Hall used to holler every time Zendon touched the ball: "It's going up!"
It is an unfair comparison to compare RJ to Zendon. Zen almost averaged a double double in his career. Despite the criticism by some, he is one of the top players ever to play here. He was definitely a guy who was offensively minded and was not a big assist guy by any means (LOL) but he was a terrific player and much more heady than RJ.

Their coach, handful of players all talked about effort and getting simply out hustled from the jump. To have that happen on your home court is tough. Miller doesn't hide his frustration in the presser
I wouldn't be surprised if X still ends up winning a bunch of games in the league and has a good overall record. They are a talented group that can really score. Obviously they need Freemantle and Hunter to be healthy, because they lost Traore preseason. But I think they can put 5 guys out there at any given time who are legit options to hurt you a variety of ways. And like him or not, Miller is a good coach.

The 1-4 record aside, I think they are pretty good and dangerous The start to their league schedule hasn't been easy besides the Hall at home.

When you are quoting high school accolades as the only support for a player midway through their junior season, you know you’ve got no argument.

He’s awful on defense. Reverse the ball twice he’s scrambling likes it’s musical chairs.

He should go to lower level to a system that will keep him in the lane and let him play 25 minutes.

If he saves a year of eligibility for Maker, he will have been worth it. Hopefully he can have a couple of good games like Curtis Johnson before he transfers.
Perhaps you should go watch a couple of practices because Vince is way ahead of Maker and is a better athlete. There is a reason Maker has played 2 big minutes this season.
To compare him to Curtis Johnson who was a slug shows your BB iq.
Vince may never be a starter at this level but if he fully recovers from his setback after his cardiac arrest he will have a good college career. If he becomes inpatient with his minutes there are plenty of Hoftras out there that would snap him up if the $ are right.
7'1, 240lb basketball players who run like Vince don't grow on trees.

Vince has potential but I fully understand Marillac's frustrations with him. However I absolutely agree that the height, athletic ability and touch require making the investment in him and seeing if the holes can be plugged.

Worst case scenario he turns out to be one of those guys who looks like a player but isn't. Justin Burrell was a bit like that (though he got no coaching along with everyone else on that roster).

interesting comparison, i wonder how their numbers stack up side by side
Looking into it more we're closer to the TCU team of the following year 22-23 in which they were a 6 seed and lost to Gonzaga in the 2nd round. That's also our closest historical match in the "similar profiles" feature on BartTorvik.

Some comparions between that TCU team and our team this year.

Adjusted Offensive Efficiency
TCU 22-23 - 112.1 (53rd in the country that year)
SJU 24-25 - 114.5 (49th)

Adjusted Defensive Efficiency
TCU - 94.3 (23rd)
SJU - 92.1 (7th)

Tempo
TCU - 69.7 (48th)
SJU - 71.4 (52nd)

OReb%
TCU - 32.2% (62nd, were 1st the year prior)
SJU - 38% (14th)

3PA%
TCU - 29.9 (333rd)
SJU - 29.7 (352nd)

3P%
TCU - 31% (330th)
SJU - 30% (301st)

Only key differences are they got to the foul line a lot more often than we are, they've had better 3 point luck on the defensive end than we've had so far, and we're better at defensive rebounding.

Funny - I was thinking this morning that if last night is our model then what we remind me of is Dixon's Pitt teams. Great minds think alike, I guess.

"Offensive tenacity" will be my new euphemism for "F you, I have the ball and I'm not giving it up!" :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Moses Malone in his heyday comes to ming as that type of player. That tenacity is not always a negative. Different players bring different things to the table and R.J. has his place. I loved Bill Bradley but the Knicks needed a blend of talent to be successful not five Bill Bradley's.

Vince sucks. Maker will be extremely good. Find something else to argue about.

It’s pointless.

I don’t think Vince is that bad. If we see the same improvement from him that we saw from Zuby at the end of last season we’ll be in good shape.

And if we see Maker again this season it'll only be in a blowout. Marillac's hill to die on, I get it, but if you think Vince needs work, Maker needs to be rebuilt, physically and hoopswise. He has more potential only in that he's younger with more years of eligibility to work towards being a viable D1 player. Like I said 3rd year. Now excuse me while I go listen to Fables of the Reconstruction.

I'm glad that I was able to record this game. I have nothing scheduled this evening and I'm going to give myself some pleasure by rewatching this game!!!😁

I agree about Vince and his possibilities of progressing. I was curious how he is so sure of maker with what we haven’t seen out of him yet.

When Scott is flying to the basket on both sides, we are a different team. We need give him all the praise in the world when he plays like this to encourage more of it. It's back-breaking combined with RJ and Zuby.
Don't understand why he was not selected to be at the press conference. Usually, the players who had a major impact on the game are chosen. He should have been chosen over one of the two players selected, probably Richmond. Scott's play had the most impact on the game
