Win at X and the team can get on a little roll w softer next five games. Lose by failing to close one at crunch time again and many fans will have doubts about the potential of this team to have an impressive season naturally. That is not stupidly portraying fans w concerns as “haters” or “angry old men”. Net of trolls, it is just raising concerns or voicing opinions on a fan board.
Let’s win this game

The biggest anomaly on this team, and which has affected offensive momentum, has been the play of Kadary Richmond. Aside from his demeanor, which has been the same since I watched him over 6 years ago at South Shore, he has been having the worst total game performances in over 5 years of college.
Pitino is justified in calling him out on not giving 100% from start to finish in some games.
If you watched him in the Rutgers scrimmage......THAT is the real KD.
It would be nice if he steps up against X.

We will hit twice as many 3’s as we did toda

So I guess when they play st Johns it will be the battle of the Underperformers? 😂👍? ?

Speaking of Georgetown, I think Georgetown is better than we thought they would be and I don’t see a Johnny win in DC and home win will be a challenge.
We struggled against Georgetown last year, even in the midst of the final streak. They are a lot better this year, and won't be an easy win.

Two talented coaches with two very different teams.
Miller makes sure his players "hear" and "listen" to his game instructions.
Pitino "hopes" his player "listen" but after observing the faces of Richmond, Luis and Wilcher in time outs........Pitino better preface every sentence with "LISTEN UP!!"

This will either be a close win or the first loss by double digits.
We have more individual talent than X but can they click as a team?

We have seen for so much of the last 2 decades that on more than a few occasions we have had more Athleticism .
But ,if the other team has better BB players , Athleticism doesn’t mean much .
Also too , Athleticism is a subjective term . How is it defined ?
Dunks ? Blocked shots ? Defense ?
Speed ?
A lot of Players are Athletic but , can’t throw the ball in the Ocean .
We have had many of them over the years .
And , shooting 1-23 on 3 point shots against Butler seems to indicate Pitino might want to take the team to Rockaway and see if they can throw the ball in the Ocean .
At this point , it’s a poor shooting team .
As a aside , I watched PC have a chance to beat UCONN yesterday until , on every possession they tried to go 1 on 1 on the Huskies .
In other words trying to use individual skills to beat a team . It didn’t work .
Plus , UCONN got every call in the 2 nd half . Even on obvious plays that should have gone to the Friars .
I just hope we get those Home Court Whistles when we play them at the Garden .

Xavier has just been through a tough stretch, losing 6 of their last 9 games. Michigan is damn good - they blew out X. TCU not so much, but it was a road game. A ranked Cincinnati team they sort of squandered that game on the road and losing by 5 to UConn on the road and by 2 to Marquette at home, before pasting Seton Hall and losing close to an improved GTown team.

By no means is this an easy game, at all. St. John's is just 2-9 at Cintas, besides winning in 2022 there you have to go back to Valentines Day 2015.

I feel like our defense and interior presence should give us an advantage. Freemantle is not 100%, neither is Hunter. Hughley doesn't play much. Lets see Zuby early and often, Kadary and Smith need to make it a point to get him involved.

And I'll just keep repeating myself...road games are golden, regardless who they are against. If you want to be an upper echelon team you get tough wins on the road. Lets do that.

1-21* .... big diff between 4.8% and 4.3%....don't make us worse than we are... lol

I agree . If was a false accounting of our stats . Although , I have wondered if a couple of our errant 2’s were actually 3 shots ?
Who’s to say ? But , accuracy in stats reporting is not as bad as the actual results on the Court .
Pitino could have called down a fan from the CA rafters to shoot a 3 . And , it might have given us that coveted 2 for 21 stat.
In fact , some of our Redfans posters who were at the game , might have volunteered.
Still think the trip to Rockaway , even in a snow storm might be good practice to shoot 3’s .
Afterwards , since RP is off the Wagon , he could treat the team to lunch at one of the Bars, Al and Dick MCGuire made famous over 75 years ago .

how can a Fan of a team (12-3 / 3-1) be so objectively negative? - not just you- i know... but the others that can't wait to come on here and chalk up an L

We have shot like literal sh*t the past 3 Conf games and have come away 2-1 with a 1pt loss.... We have shown the capability to Stay in ANY game regardless of shooting...

If we shoot 30% from 3 vs X, we probably win by 15 lol...
if we hit 3 - 5 3s, then yes i agree we will win.

Is this game really a "Win or It's Over" game for some here?
Of course not, but makes the road to having a special season tougher. Stealing a road game v good BE team gives the team a chance for momentum over the subsequent 5 games, a far less challenging group than first 5, 3 of which were on the road. The goal to me was not being a “play in” Dance participant or having a low seed and losing first game there. An experienced group like this should get the bid and win a game imo.

Of course shooting has to improve dramatically and maybe staff should stop using three foot wide rims in practice to make players feel better. 😎

Definitely not "it's over", but definitely makes the rest of the season very stressful (and a lot more stressful than I expected it to be)
Just surprised some sentiment concerning an away game at CINTAS... where we have historically struggled (where havent we struggled on the road in BE play? lol)

I understand "wanting" a win at X for our aspirations... but a loss shouldnt come as a shock... X is not DePaul... never have been, never will be.

prior to the Season- i saw it this way: 15 wins
Split: Marq / UConn / Creighton / Prov /X: 5 wins
Sweep: SH / DePaul / Gtown / Nova / BUtler: 10 wins

Revised: 14 wins
Split: Marq / UConn / Creighton / X / Nova / Gtown: 6wins
Sweep: SH / DePaul / Prov / Butler: 8 wins

I do think that’s roughly the formula. I feel like I’m usually one of the more optimistic people on this board about this team, but I actually think we lose tomorrow. They’re going to be desperate and they’re very talented + are an athletic team.

The psychological thing is that we have six of our best chances at NCAA resume wins in February and our margin of error smaller. I’m not sure I agree that splitting with Nova or Georgetown is good enough. We have to get sweeps against some quality teams.

I think this conversation is completely different if we beat Baylor or Georgia. Right now we’re just a team with “quality losses” and a nice win on the road against a non-NCAA team + a win at home against a bubble team from the Mountain West
