@Xavier, Tue., Jan. 7 , 6:30p, FS-1

how can a Fan of a team (12-3 / 3-1) be so objectively negative? - not just you- i know... but the others that can't wait to come on here and chalk up an L

We have shot like literal sh*t the past 3 Conf games and have come away 2-1 with a 1pt loss.... We have shown the capability to Stay in ANY game regardless of shooting...

If we shoot 30% from 3 vs X, we probably win by 15 lol...
Agree. A couple of these “fans” seem to root for a loss. So how is this being a fan of the team? I get it in pros to root for losses to get a better draft pick. But not here.

I don’t think they have underperformed, I think that their early Big East schedule is responsible for their 1-3 record.
I'm talking just as much about losing by 25 to Michigan, losing by 4 to TCU, and scraping by SC State, as much as their loss to Georgetown

I get these guys being "realists"... Facts- we haven't beaten anyone... UVA/KState/NewMex dont's hold much if any weight.

Yet, in the same vein... we have been "in" every game we have played. We got fighters on the team. When you have those types of players- any game can be a Win.

Scary that a lot of what you said is what we were saying about last year's team. I do think this year's team is physically much tougher, much more imposing, and defense-oriented, which will bear better fruit in close games.

Agree- I believe we have the guys to come out on top of these close games more often than not. A lot of opportunity still on the table.

And i understand- there isn't a column in the Metrics with a title- "We were IN the game" lol... we can't hide behind that at the end of the season.

3-1... with about... 8-10 opportunites to make our Resume Tourney worthy. We have the capability to Win every one of them

I am always personally suspicious on what the NCAA folks really value or do when picking at large teams. But according to them, NET is a factor, and margin of victory and loss is part of how NET is generated. So, IF the Metrics actually do matter (?) being in every game is better than getting blown out.

I think there is a lot of consternation because as fans of the program — aside from a few blips — we have seen nothing but misery.

We expect a slog of a win against an inferior opponent to carry over and spread into the entire season. The curse of Union and Utopia is so powerful that even a HOF coach cannot provide the exorcism.

But I will continue to think differently and let the season play out and believe this team will improve. For now, let the team scrape together as many unimpressive wins as possible. Then, when we finally see that seminal impressive performance, we can envision things have clicked.

I still stand firm that this team is too talented to not make the NCAA Tournament.

These are very good expectations and no one could not hope that happens .
But , recent history is against it .
We were 2-9 on 3 pointers Vs Creighton for 6 points . Basically meaningless .
Creighton was 9 for 23 or something and that’s 27 points .
We can’t win games with disparity like that .
Yesterday against Butler , not a good team but . Scrappy , we were 1-23 on 3 ‘s !

Horrible is not a strong enough word to measure how poor that is .
There’s no getting around it . Reality says , we are a terrible 3 point team . And , without Dunlap we really have no reliable alternative right now .
It’s very difficult to win in the BE if you are going to be out scored by double digits on 3 point shots .
Pitino , the Godfather of 3 point strategy , didn’t bring in anyone who can reasonably fill that skill .
Billy Donavan isn’t coming through the door .
Relying solely on Dunlap hasn’t worked and his missing these BE games isn’t helping . He’s , at least a threat to drain 3’s .

So I guess when they play st Johns it will be the battle of the Underperformers? 😂👍? ?

Speaking of Georgetown, I think Georgetown is better than we thought they would be and I don’t see a Johnny win in DC and home win will be a challenge.

We're 1-3 in toss up games so far this season (games within one possession at any point under the U4 timeout). Very good chance this will be game number 5 of that category. Last year @X we were tied with 3 mins left and ended up losing by 11

Thanks you for pointing this out. Everyone bitching about losses hurting our tournament chances. We've lost 3 games by a combined 5 points. Let that sink in. When we start getting smacked in losses let me know.

(Fully expecting a smackdown at Xavier now ha)

I think during the grind of the BE season Kadary has value running the point at times and especially in close games (assuming he hits a slightly better FT %). I like Luis at the high post and Zuby down low. Kadary going to the hole is one of our best options. He would then have Scott and Devian at the wings (Or Brady) and Luis can roll or help crash when KR makes his move. Occasionally Zuby can pull his man out of the middle and move to the corner. As folks have pointed out the spacing also has to get better and hoping this would help.

Can't see how we win this game. Our record at Xavier is abysmal.
You just go punch for punch with them, and you stand your ground, there's no backing down.

Hopefully our punches are alot harder then there's, and we lay them out.
Smoke that victory cigar and head home.

They read this board, especially after they had a good game.

4-1 is on the line, lets get this.

I want to see the same St. John’s team that played Baylor. That’s the only complete game we’ve played all year. If that team comes to play I feel good about our chances, if not it’s probably not going to be in cards for us.

Two talented coaches with two very different teams.
Miller makes sure his players "hear" and "listen" to his game instructions.
Pitino "hopes" his player "listen" but after observing the faces of Richmond, Luis and Wilcher in time outs........Pitino better preface every sentence with "LISTEN UP!!"

This will either be a close win or the first loss by double digits.
We have more individual talent than X but can they click as a team?

Win at X and the team can get on a little roll w softer next five games. Lose by failing to close one at crunch time again and many fans will have doubts about the potential of this team to have an impressive season naturally. That is not stupidly portraying fans w concerns as “haters” or “angry old men”. Net of trolls, it is just raising concerns or voicing opinions on a fan board.
