Xavier - 2nd Game

LiveRPI has us moving from 45 to 38 and amazingly Xavier falls from 29 to 30 still ahead of us. We beat them twice have a better conference record and overall record yet are still 8 spots behind them. RPI is severely flawed

Man we don't make things easy, but I love these kids so much. I am kind of sad to see them all go. I feel like since they have all played so many minutes for 4 years that I have watched even more of them than that. I am of the belief one more win from anywhere and we dance, but let's beat Gtown, lock it up, play for a good seed, and get revenge on Gtown. I do not want these seniors losing their last MSG home game to the hated Hoyas.
Not only have these seniors played a lot of games, w redmen.com and just about every game televised , we really get to follow them. Special group. Hopefully they can go out w a bang.

Nice to secure this win and have 4 full days of rest.

Yes, rest, especially for DeLo because he's clearly hurt but playing with heart, no whining, and content to have been in the shadows of green, pointer etc. as of the past month!!!

Good for Harrison, good for his teammates, good for our entire SJU family!!
What a game.

That was a great point I meant to bring up. I feel like with ESPN3 and then FoxSportsGo and cable I have basically watched every game over the last 4 years, and as a law student for a few of them, always had my laptop with me at the very least. Even in Aruba I was able to watch the games, technology is a great thing. I remember the days where I used to follow non Big East games on Gamecast.

It is a blessing and a curse though, because I revolve my schedule around watching, I sometimes wish I couldn't watch so I would have more free time.

"I'm 49 Jack and Ive been rooting for the Johnnies for 36 years now. There are four or five teams that were really special to me. I too admit though, as frustrating as this team to watch sometimes, the way they can look so damn good and then play so poorly, they have an amazing amount of heart and toughness and they're really starting to grow on me. I agree with Vaccaro also, if this team makes the tournament, they can make a run. There is such parity right now in college basketball outside of Kentucky. If this team winds up in a favorable bracket where the match ups are right for them, they make a nice run.[/quote]"

I love these kind of posts.

This team is so much fun to root for on so many levels.

Ya know, when you consider this core group and how problematic they have been at times:

D'Lo--angry young man; sophomore year suspension
Sir Dom--talk of redshirting this off season
Obepka--transfer consideration; elbow
Sheed--just that incredibly tough family situation he deals with
--that whole thing where just about half the team lost family members in a short spell last year

and yet, some of these seniors already have their degree and are demonstrating that this can be more than just about basketball. so many of you only care about the court, but if this is something Lav had a hand in producing...helping these young men accomplish what they have for life and not just basketball, that's nothing to sneeze at in my opinion. i know he will never be on Mt. Rushmore of coaches, but still, not like it's the easiest job in the world. :) welcome to Lavinwood indeed...where misfits become stars, and where immaturity can become maturity and where a transfer is always available for a variety of reasons.

where y'all sense of romance? :) this team makes you all FEEL.

love it.

peace y'all.

With all of the runs during the game, I expected a great thread and you guys didn't disappoint!

Love reading the full thread when I get home. You fools are crazy! With all due respect.

On the train waiting to head home and still on a high over this win. We did some stupid things there, especially at the beginning of the second half. But our guys came through.

I know it's been said so many times but it's worth repeating. This is indeed a special group of guys, especially our seniors. Want them so much to make the tournament.

One game at a time. Georgetown next!

outrebounded 47-27.
Staggering stat.

But we outblocked them 10-1. Pointer just amazes me with his shot blocking ability

Most fun part of the night: When Dom hit the free-throw in the second half and the crowd went nuts with delusion. Right?

Great win!
Pathetic crowd 6600
Terrible!

I really didn't expect much. Xavier, Monday night, students on break and the Xavier fans weren't traveling for this one,
