Worst losses ever

The syracuse loss at alumni hall was horrible when rencher missed the front end of a 1 and 1 with 5 seconds left and a 1 pt lead.   Louis Orr over Carter at the buzzer layup and foul.

Correct me if I'm wrong -  is that the game Mullin missed the front end of a one and one????   If not that game, what game did that happen in?
Was that the Temple/Terrance Stansbury game?
Villanova in the Palestra in 82 or 83.

Spectrum. I was there with guys from work, one who had gone to Nova. With Mullin at the line (he was a 90% ft shooter) the guy starts mouthing that he didn't care because he went to Nova for grad school - then went nuts when pinone drained it.

Thanks. I was at the palestra once, a charming dump. Pretty sure all bleachers. They had a famous peanut seller , old guy , loud , with a great arm. He was an institution there.

In that era, Monday mornings at work everyone wanted to talk to me about st John's.   My wife and I usually got on tv, prob a beauty and the beast thing (no pun intended)

My vote for "worst" loss was the St. Thomas Aquinas game, although technically was that an exhibition?, still a horrendous loss to a nothing program, there is not a way in the world that should ever have happened.

Most heartbreaking loss is what I have seen a lot of on this thread.

My most heartbreaking loss was against Georgetown in the Final Four. If the gods were aligned and if only Georgetown got Nova in the semis, and got beat, we had Villanova's number that year, we would have been National Champions. I was devastated losing (again) to Georgetown which had our number that year. Stupid me, thought, oh well, we'll be back here.
