When Keita Returns
If all Keita provides is the 9 minutes a game he did as a freshman for SC it would be a big help. I see nothing but upside from his return.
Nine minutes last night. A big help.

In conversations, before the season both St. Jean and Mullin used the word "Beast" to describe Keita. (I like the word for some reason). He was a presence in the middle and under the boards, and showed no obvious signs of the injury. If we are going anywhere this season he will be a necessary piece of the puzzle. Would not be shocked at all to see both Williams (obvious) and Roberts get regular minutes, which will tamp down complaints here about depth. Last season after Amar and Yakwe, we could have put in team managers who could have done no worse.

Absolutely agree Beast. Even in "positionless basketball" you need some size to counter the other team's size. Keita is much better than either of those 2 guys of course, but I also understand he's much better than we've been able to see thus far. We don't need him on a regular basis to score a lot of points. Rebounds, interior defense and put backs would be great for now. Next year, maybe a bigger role in the offense.

Yes, we have enough offense. Rebounding & defense is where he is most valuable. In his limited playing time, I do not believe he has scored a point.

But what if he only returned because he reads the site and saw Marillac calling him out?

Do you really believe he was relying on Marillac over advice from physicians on when to return?

You're on a roll today, Beast. Keep rolling!

Was obviously a joke, however
I believe Marillac believes it yes ;)

No but I do believe we have a few posters here who think that players are coaches are reading their posts, and a few who believe they are cub reporters, kind of like Jimmy Olsen.

I do believe, though, that Marillac went off the rails berating Keita. He is a good guy (Marillac) and a good poster, so I won't attack him and drive him off redmen.com as another poster did about a year ago.

You and Jack should bring this up with Marillac too, since he has said in the past that players read the site.

Haha... I know the coaches don't pay attention at all, although I know one d1 coach who read this site at one point. Players may browse this site, but i think the main qualification to read all the posts that you be 65 plus and can hang here all day. For my part, I go in and out and browse the previous 10 or so when I see 80 posts. Usually not missing anything - it's like the soap operas.

I don’t know about any current players, but D’Angelo Harrison did post a screenshot of a MainMan post once on twitter. MainMan was just joking like he usually does but DLo thought it was for real.

You've got to love these kids.
Keita when not in, was a gigantic cheerleader on the bench. The only thing that prevented last night's game from being perfect was Marillac not apologizing to Keita to his face.
Never. I posted the night of the SH game that he'd play in this game. It makes his absence that much more egregious to me. This is a 7-week old injury...not some fresh sprained ankle. How is it possible for him to play with no visible sign of injury 68 hours after the SH game ended but not play in the SH game? The kid was running around and agile as ever against Marquette. He couldn't give 5 minutes against SH? His teammates needed him and any tough player would have answered that call if it was even close. He proved last night he was.

I know they all read these forums and I wanted end his free pass on here.

You are a great guy and great poster, but you are off base on this one in my opinion. He looked pretty good in limited action I thought. Nice to see a big body out there.

I think you’re of the rails on this, Marillac.
Neither you nor me, nor 99.9% of posters know the extent of Keita’s injury and surgery repair.
There wasn’t a whisper from our coaches nor any grumblings from any players regarding Keita’s rehab integrity (that I’m aware of) that gives any credence to your continual harping about the kid’s—in your view—‘slow’ recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery to be able toplay in a high major D1 hoops game.
You’ve questioned the kid’s toughness and honesty, and you are way off base in my view and you, yeah you, should apologize punlbicly to Keita.
Almost better yet, just shaddup about it.

Nothing he does on the court will top his ability to get a few of the dead men sitting to stand in Section 7. Those seatbacks must be REALLY comfortable, those guys never leave them unoccupied.
