Players have to be cleared by NCAA academically in order to play. This wouldn't be an issue with the school facing any repercussions unless of course they assisted in the fraud. The only penalty the school would face is losing a player it was depending on. But I'm hearing same as Paultz. No issue here.

So WCC spokesperson claims Walker never played, even though Cimino says he saw him play twice and there is video of him playing? Very weird.
 
I know Zags tweeted that they are cautiously optimistic but I am concerned. Among staffs that were recruiting him there was concern in the spring over whether he would qualify.
 
WCC said in the article that they believe that this is an isolated incident. Let's hope that's the case. If we lose Thomas now it really puts a damper on the season.
 
Hopefully Rubin is wrong on "likeliness"Thomas won't be elegible;

Rubin is not one to throw things out there prematurely. When he says SJU "likely not" to have Thomas, I too am now concerned. We'll see.

Unbelievable if this turns out to be true. Wonder if any of the other bigs would be ready to step up.
 
It's always the kid who ends up paying the price for stuff like this. I don't know if KT was complicit, but operating under the assumption that he was NOT...this is a real shame. Both for the program who was going to rely on his services heavily and for the player himself. Seems like we can never catch a break.

I will have a huge issue if Thomas is not eligible. We had serious problems with eligibility with Lavin's first class with direct SJU involvement in the situation and if SJU did not due complete and fool proof due diligence here it is just mind boggling. In my mind it will give tremendous credence to the criticisms of SJU administration and this coaching staff. I agree with Paultzman about Rubin's personna and this is scary to me. Eleventh hour crap again..................

Agree. Rooting for SJU is as enjoyable as operating a jackhammer on the LIE in August.
