Cincinnati was his best offer...trust me, you're gonna like this kid. Remember Branden Frazier from Fordham? Dixon is very much like that.

I like it. Shouldnt scare away LM and he has a year to work against two of the better guards in the country.

Not overly exciting but we need guard insurance so I'll take it.

He picked us over Penn St. and UMass. Not exactly stiff competition. At least on paper, I'm not overly impressed so far. I thought the transfer game was Matt's forte. Then again, it's still early, and what do I know.

Not exactly stiff competition ? I guess that's what they say about us when we are mentioned with kids because both of those teams are better than us :). This kid can play. Welcome aboard .

Happy, I'll defer to you as I haven't seen the kid play. I also didn't mean to disparage a kid who just chose SJU. Welcome aboard Mikey!

I was told my one of the coaches on that staff last year that we won't be disappointed. So we will see.

Well, I hope this works out. Personally, I am disappointed to use a scholarship on another small guard. In fact, this kid is beyond small. At 160 lbs, he is now our lightest player.

I love Ponds, Mussini and Lovett, but getting smaller at the guard position was not on my wish list.

Boys versus men gets old quick.

He has a year and a summer to put on weight, and he's already 6'2, which would make him taller than Mussini, Ponds, and Lovett.

Doesn't matter what he weighs this year... He's got 18 months and some of those other guards may not be here next year.

Not saying this will work out, but by the time he suits up he will likely play with Ponds, Simon & a more physical guard like Luther Muhammad.

I'm just happy to have players. Plus, Dixon looks like a good one. And before we get all angry at small guards let
us remember.

Showtime was 6'0'' 168
Man Hatten was 6'1'' 174
Omar Cook was 6'0'' and admittedly a stout 190.
and my favorite non-Johnny point guard Andre Barrett was 5' 10'' 170 at the most.

Now 3 more schollies to fill!

"Two MAAC coaches, speaking on condition of anonymity because Dixon hadn’t signed yet, had differing opinions. Both described him as a scoring guard, but one said he needs to get stronger and improve his decision-making to be a difference-maker in the Big East. The other compared him with former Iona College star A.J. English, a player who can score at all three levels — in the paint, from the mid-range and beyond the 3-point line."

Those are good players. But if you want to get over the hump and make a serious run, you need the muscle. The NCAA tournament is a man's game.
