Welcome Ian Steere Today I Sense

The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Fayetteville, N.C., native will seek a waiver to play beginning in the 2019-20 season because he played just five minutes in N.C. State’s season-opening 105-55 win over Mount St. Mary’s, scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds.

"five minutes....., scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds."

That equates to 32 points and 32 rebounds per game. Wow, what a get!!

“I’m pretty confident that I’m going to get a waiver to play immediately in November [2019],” he said Friday by phone. “We’re going to try and get that, but we’ll see what happens.”
ONE WORD:
Hoo Ray!
Or is that two words ? lol

Welcome Ian!
All the best to you!!
We - of the St. John’s family - are fortunate
in Many ways!!!

Great news. How soon after he enrolls does he apply for and hear about his eligibility for next full season?

He should apply day first semester ends. I'm sure some preliminary conversation will take place soon on our part, just to get ball rolling: "This is our intent and you'll be hearing from us on December 20."

When Steere hears could be any time, but as fans I'd say just forget about it because there's no point stressing about something that could happen in October. Hopefully something that gets processed earlier than May transfers gets done before that group of kids.

Question: Ian and Mack won't sit in the beginning of next year right?
Mack... no, Steere-most likely not if ncaa approves it. From what I’ve read, with new ncaa rules in place, he quickly pulled the plug with NC state in order to further this cause. It’s unlikely they’ll make him sit because he only appeared in 4 minutes of 1 game.
But if I remember correctly, Sidney Wilson wasn't even on the St. John's roster when the season began, but still had to sit out a year at UConn following his transfer.

Yeah but Steere will have sat out a year of basketball at that point if they don’t count the 4 minutes he played. Wilson attended SJU summer school and wanted to be eligible for like a week later. I believe the ncaa treats the scenarios differently.

I asked Ian Steere @notorious21_ how he can contribute to the team and he stated, “I feel like I can bring a little bit of everything to the team. Some things people haven’t seen me do yet. But without a doubt I will be a big presence in the paint and on the boards.” #sjubb

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Listen, he played only 4 minutes and had 4 it’s and 4 boards... I endorse that kind of production! In all seriousness, the kid is physically very strong and extremely athletic. He and Keita should change the game for us I terms of post-play the way Mullin wants it done, because they are both extremely good athletes with skills and jump shots as well. I sense Mullin doesn’t want a static big in the middle, he’d rather have stretch guys.

Only my opinion, but that's what I think the issue has been. It's not that we couldn't get some random big, he wants specific bigs that would fit into the style of play he wants to run. If he couldn't get that specific type of big, he'd rather go with a small lineup.

Yeah I sense you’re right with that. Although Kofi isn’t quite the running big and we are recruiting him. I’m fine with 6’9+ guys that can run. Don’t need to have a true center, but do need physical size inside.

They won't okay together. I hope Keita doesn't try to stretch anything. That's not his game.
