With no open scholarships available, Ian Steere will be on financial aid this coming semester. #sjubb
Well this has to make everyone's thanksgiving weekend, even those of us in the great white north who celebrated thanksgiving 6 weeks ago, that much more festive. Thank you Paultzman, thank you NC State, thank you David Cahaher for your big assist in Ian's recruitment, thank you Matt for always doing the heavy lifting, and thank you Ian.
Going to the bar to celebrate. :)
Very happy with this transfer. However you are not fooling any of us down south in NYC. We know that when you say "bar" in Montreal you mean Croissant Croissant for a tall latte and croissant on Avenue du Mont-Royal.;)
Welcome Ian
Question: Ian and Mack won't sit in the beginning of next year right?
Mack... no, Steere-most likely not if ncaa approves it. From what I’ve read, with new ncaa rules in place, he quickly pulled the plug with NC state in order to further this cause. It’s unlikely they’ll make him sit because he only appeared in 4 minutes of 1 game.
Wait a minute. That means we have a true point ( Mack) and now a true center ( Steere)?

That means we’ll be a normal team next year?
He's a forward but definitely got some size and post game so I don't care if he is called center or forward, 4 or 5. He does also have a jumpshot so his is Mullin Ball ready.

Great pickup for us. 4 star kid with likely 3 years eligibility who is a 6’9, very strong and athletic kid. Our post issues will be taken care of with Keita, Steere and hopefully Roberts combining at PF/C spots. Pg taken care of as well. Now we go after best players available depending on what happens in the spring...

“NC State transfer Ian Steere @notorious21_ tells me he will announce his decision at 3PM today”
excerise bike to keep him loose lined up for him during the announcement
Loose limbed? This is Ian’s dad. No loose limbs there at 6’6” 350.. I want to see Ian like this next December....

Safe to say Ian starts :)

Mullin: “Luca, go tell Mr Steere Ian is sitting tonight”
Mullin: " Yes Mr. STEERE SIR, we will play a high-low offense and Ian WILL get touches around the basket".

Great pick up, we will actually have three 6’9 guys next year. Amazing!

Simon
Wright
Figgy
Precious
Steere

As a starting five next year with an awesome bench of

Dixon
Caraher
Keita
Mack
Williams
Roberts
Trimble

That’s a stacked team

You may have consider Keita, Steere and hopefully Precious for a power front court that includes Figueroa. I don't sense Roberts in your equation depending on his progress this season.

Zach B just noted on Twitter fwiw that staff agrees with you re Steere getting waiver. Of course, we’ll see.

Ian Steere said Creighton, Virginia Tech, Nevada and Cincinnati among schools that were in on him, but he was pretty set on St. John's from the outset. #sjubb
Kudos to Matt on these two additions. Rest up, enjoy the new baby & concentrate on Precious. Btw, keep hearing Precious really likes Mullin. Keep winning & who knows.

Try the Crown Royal Noble Collection Blenders Mash 13 yr. old, a true celebratory drram. Keeping it north of the border, let me know what you think.:)

I don't normally speak of myself in the third person but this will make Paul very happy.
The bad news is they are making him a point guard :)

Great pickup! 247 Sports had him as a 3* and ranked #140; others had him s a 4*.
Thinking the kid will be hungry and be a banger.
Nice start to our 2019 Recruiting Class.
Very thankful.
Lets win a bunch of games and impress Precious, getting his commitment in the Spring.
Let's go Redmen!

I’d love that. I just don’t want to get ahead our ourselves. Would keep our roster rolling into next year really well...

Great news !!!!

Not trying to jinx us but will ask the question for those who know the process.

I believe fall signing period just passed...Since there was no scholly to give and paying own way for now, could there still have been any official signing at the time or would it still have had to be a verbal only?

Do transfers sign NLIs? If he is on financial aid I don't believe he wouldn't sign any NLI since he isn't getting an athleyic scholarship.
