Welcome Damien Sears

At this point we need capable bodies that are willing to go out and make us a tougher team. I don’t think we are going to find a ton of real difference-makers here. CMA wants to implement his style of play and we are missing a lot of parts. This offseason we are recruiting to field a team that is somewhat competitive. The real recruiting will start for the 2020 class with time and hours put in.

If we have Heron, Figueroa, Steere, Sears, and all the transfers and returning players then we may be as good as last year. Just hard to replace Shamorie Ponds but we'll have plenty of guards and players and real experience in our coaches.

OMG '72, I never ever imagined I'd consider the notion of 'Kool Aid' with you. Just sayin'. Lol.
We do need another PG, but I'm optimistic CMA & Staff will find one...and maybe haul in Jalen Thomas as well.
We shall see.

We need to replace shamorie with defense and rebounding in his stead. We have some talent in those guys like LJ and Heron return which I think they will. Eli Wright and Steere also talented kids. Add some more pieces and try to play 10-deep and to our new style and we might be able to be competitive. The change in coaching certainly could add up to a more cohesive team too. Our guys looked confused a ton down the stretch due to imo lack of coaching.

Mean Gene
Thanks AND
Mike Anderson - and Mike Cragg for that matter - did not come here for a lost year...as we know he has not had a losing season and I have to believe he intends - with his players and his brand of basketball - to have another over .500 season!
All the best and...
Thanks Coach Anderson for how you’ve built your staff, augmented the team and with the enthusiasm you brought to the Red Storm family :)

I think we would be interesting to watch. Maybe MA coaches them up a little and they are a highly competitive yet flawed team. My expectations are low but a little promise and some progress for the future is where I am at.

If LJ & Heron return and we add a couple more pieces, including a solid PG & a Jalen Thomas type, we can definitely continue that above .500 streak for MA. Does anyone know if there is still a chance Steere gets cleared to play w/o sitting first semester?

Dunno NCJ, but I think it’s still the ‘plan’ to appeal for a waiver.
Who knows what Tinker Bell will bring?
Lol.

I hate to be harsh but I hope this is the nail in the Keita coffin. That alone makes me happy about this kid. We need tenacious players not the stiff who’s supposedly gone now.

Needless to say, can we avoid anybody with the last name Keita for good now?

Actually think that’s a key component of CMA teams: getting incremental pieces that allow him to play 9+ guys 15-30 mins / game.
He played 13 players last year, including 6 of 7 freshmen. 1 freshman was a 4* and played 30mpg: 3 other freshmen played 15-17mpg.
Only 2 players on the team were ranked 4* out of HS.
Mike’s MO seems to be the mob rules. Lol.

This guy sounds like he is as solid as Sears
Hopefully not the softer side
Tough kid who will bang and can step out and knock down the jumper. This kid literally from the swamp in Louisiana... has horses, chased rabbits and other small game, snakes, gators, all of that. Some country toughness for you.
Hope he sticks around and doesn’t go on Naked and Afraid

Two keys, and one potential key: 1) Another viable point guard; 2) and, of course, the services of Figueroa.

The potential key is whether Eli Wright can step up his game, and play like a top 90 prepster (his ranking) outta high school. He has some college experience, and it's now time to step up the play.

Agree MJ. Just hope he looks more comfortable on the court this year than he did in MA's press conference...;)

We've got to take whatever we can get at this point... At least he's a big body. Hopefully surprises us.

A 2 stat and a 3 star does not equate to a 5 star. It’s also is 6 years of scholarship’s, hopefully this board doesn’t do what usually takes place here and make them more than what they are.
Obviously beggars can't be choosers at this stage. If he gives us a shade over 2.1 ppg and 2.0 rpg, then its an upgrade from our dearly departed consensus four-star big man.
How did that work out in Mullin’s first year. At least he recruited fifth year players.

Your post is brilliant in it's simplicity. People acting like this is some sort of master plan by CMA. Please! He's grabbing best available(to him) at spots we need most. Just like Chris/Matt did with D Williams, Sima, etc. Not going to knock any of the kids who commit to us. I thank them for their commitment to our storied program, welcome them with open arms and hope they turn out to be all time greats here. But some of the stuff posted about these kids and some of the comparisons made to all time great players has me, as the great Panther would say, SMFH.

Think Sears can be the next Karl Malone.

I think all posters are aware there are no all Americans being recruited by Anderson but most are pleased by the effort being spent as compared to the prior staff who were satisfied with a bench of a couple of players, a couple in suits , and a couple of walk ons for four years rather than put in the effort required to build a major college roster.,
