Welcome Caraher

This is the exact type of player that has killed us in the past. He seems like a prototypical Butler kid, luckily for us it didn’t for out for them.

Welcome!

I see he took Ahmed's number 1 !!!
Great that he can practice this season 2018-19 and
I wonder...
How tall?
What statistics this year?

Like someone said hopefully a player Mullin can develop and always good to add a shooter. We have some good players now to compete once Ponds leaves but very much need to add talent from the '19 high school class.

Didn't just take Ahmed's number that's his jersey. Cost cutting measure. Doesn't Caraher have some family ties to NY. If so WELCOME BACK CARAHER!

This kid will be a great addition. He aced it as a freshman in the SLC, wants to compete at a higher level, and will work to do that.
He's listed as 6'6" and a Forward (sports-reference.com): averaged 16.2pts/g, .36% 3pt%, 52% 2-pt range, 72% from the charity stripe, 7.2 Rebs (4.8 D-Rebs), 1.9 assists, and 0.8 steals/game.
Not expecting him to produce this in the BEC in 2019-20, but bet he works to improve and is productive.

And it looked like he had a few shooting good games against teams from top conferences. 7 for 13 against PC right out the gate. He has a year to improve on his all around game to be big east ready.

Agree OLV72. Kid's got solid shooting skills. Am betting he works hard and improves 'his all around game' as you said.
I think this is the kind of player Mullin will develop and have great impact on. And, I'm not in-the-know, but thinking Mullin (aside from his dad being in NYC Metro) may be a reason, he chose us.

Really like this kid. Typical type of player who always seems to sneak up on us and kill us in OOC matchups. Nice to have his skill on board. That being said, he has to sit a year so it still does nothing for next year. We need at least 2 solid bigs added to have a decent chance at the tourney.

You're not going to get two solid bigs so cool your jets. One will do and not a 2018 recruit ranked in the 300's regardless of size.

Don't think I'm being unreasonable at all. We already badly needed a solid big last year even with Tariq and Yakwe on the roster. Both just left. We need 2 not just 1. I don't see Keita, Roberts, or Diakate giving us much at all. We all saw how Joey DeLaRosa worked out...great size but unskilled. Size alone is not going to get it done, we need DeShawn Freeman types. Hope I'm wrong.

Get one solid big and have Ponds come back and we are a legitimate contender to dance. All we can hope for at this point.

Couldn't agree more. Those whose opinion I value and who have seen Keita in practices last year have opined that he will be a significant big man presence for us. Add one more significant big and that would clearly be an improvement over Owens & Yakwe and along with a deeper bench (and a returning Ponds) would make us a very solid bet to dance. Hoping the grad big pops soon.

Neither Owens or Yakwe "played" big so we didn't just lose 2 bigs. In fact, Yakwe did not play at all. I think the three you mentioned will replace those two easily. We need one big that can play the 5 or PF that likes to bang inside. Your not going to find a DeShawn Freeman at this stage for next year. Why set yourself up for disappointment when you know just getting one talented big is a long shot to begin with???

Who are we are we kidding? Easy to say “get two” but we are not being inundated with big prospects. Was told Femi apparently wanted a place where he could display his offensive skills to maximize his chances of earning $$ somewhere professionally. Our guard oriented approach was not appealing to him apparently. It is not like bigs are lining up at our door. Get a serviceable player who can rebound, set picks and do the dirty work. If not, tough season awaits imo.
