Welcome Caraher

Starts play in a year?
Yes on both

After all the bitching and moaning and disparagement on this board...
Progress!
Well, we still need a big. Or a 6'3" PF who plays bigger than he is.

But this does feel like the beginning of a good next week. I think two more kids will sign on now that they see the first kid take the plunge.

I think all SS&G was saying is be patient, don't presume negatively, and don't disparage with little evidence of wild claims.

Thanks for reminding us

Sounds like a kid who wants to be here. I hope to see him play in 2019. Now, please get us a big guy for next season. Things would really be looking up.

Exactly my view, LJSA. Not saying he's the next Rick Barry or even CM--but he seems a very solid player who excelled in his conference as a freshman and thinks he can improve his game. Welcome DC!
Importantly, he is the first piece, following a few setbacks and I believe he re-establishes a sense that we are rebuilding--not falling apart.
Hoping, a couple more follow shortly, including that Grad Big.

Perhaps a potential “big” recruit for 18 pops up in next few weeks. “Perhaps”

Long way to go before roster is set and grad transfer big still critical need for next year, but 2019-2020 roster starting to shape up with Caraher, Dixon, Keita, Williams, Roberts, Trimble and hopefully Simon among others.

Thanks Paultz. I am a patient man. Hopefully, a "big" pops. If Ponds returns, I think we would have a real shot to make the tourney next year. It would be the deepest team in awhile. Beyond that, a little winning would push things forward after that.

Yes, fabulous to see a guy who "wants to be here." And thanks Paultz, for that "perhaps".

Nice comments to hear.

Maybe the honesty you get from CM in a 10 minute conversation closes some deals better than silver tongued snake oil salesmen - at least for this kid

Welcome

Even without Simon I like that group. Not too young but not all seniors either. Obviously they could all transfer by then but trying to be positive here. Also Diakite should be fully back by then so don't forget about him. Hopefully Earlington is contributing by then also. Add another transfer or 2 coming off sit out years plus whatever we get out of the 19 class and we have a full squad finally.

This is the kind of player that likely easily identified with Mullin. Similar body type and good straight up shooter who, unlike Yakwe, is not afraid to mix it up inside and rebound.
After doing as much due diligence as possible watching tapes I think he may be a good rotation player depending on the actual roster make up in season 5 of the Mullin tenure. While not athletically as gifted as Justin he appears to have a better natural stroke. Hopefully he can improve on the quickness of his release in Big East competition especially off the dribble. Lateral defensive movement seems adequate but may have trouble against faster and bigger offensive players. If his attitude is like what I have read here his value will exceed his high school ranking of 311 nationally. The perfect type of 3 star player the could blend with higher ranked talent in coming years. It goes without saying that the 4 and 5 star targets in 2019 will dwarf the importance of this recruit to Mullin's success.

Great insights, NCJohnnie, Dan V, & '72.
We're close. It all begins with that 'first step' and following the debacle of Lovett, the embarrassment of Tariq, and the denouement of Yakwe, Dave Caraher's commitment may indeed be that first 'crawl'.
In the next month, we need that Grad Big for next season, and 1 more sit-out, maybe 2, to establish our presence for the 2018-19 season, and to provide a tangible 'set' roster in 2019-20 to attract the top 2019 talent we're targeting.
I do believe that we will get there.
Call me Panglossian.

With all the guys who have transferred or that we tried to recruit that spurned us, it is a great feeling to read that he likes our guys and culture.
What great news.This is exciting!

It sure the hell is, frank61. It's the begining of something 'big'.

Let's add a Big and make some noise next year.
