Welcome back Julian!

Refreshing and honest take from Julian. He shouldn’t be playing the 5 much w Wheeler, Stanley and Soriano

interesting that scouts keyed on his perimeter defense which was a team wide problem last season especially early on

Quotes from the article include “we’ll do what we need to win games”, “winning” is key and winning is “big”. Have no issue with what he said from the feedback he received. He shouldn’t be playing the 5 anyway most of the time. And 3/4 are somewhat interchangeable given how many teams play. It benefits us for Champ to focus on his perimeter defense and being more versatile from the perimeter. All good from my perspective.

This is best team SJU has had since Elite 8 team w/o question. So deep too. Have not been this optimistic in a long time; season can't get here quickly enough.

Talent wise I still give the edge to that 2013-14 St John’s team. JaKarr, Dom, DLo, Phil, Obekpa and we brought in Rysheed Jordan. Team was stacked. It still hurts they couldn’t make the tournament that year

Really great news!! With the talent and depth on this team, they should a mainstay in the Top 25 all season.

Can’t say I loved the interview.  Sounds very much like he’s coming back to play for himself as opposed to the team.  Seems very focused on auditioning for the league.  I guess that’s the reality today but unfortunate.  Hopefully he will have a better junior year than Ponds did.

No issues with what he said, isn't college about putting people in the position to succeed after they leave. He needs to play the 2 or 3 because that's what he will be on the next level. We have size now, it shouldn't be an issue.

Biggest recruiting win of the off-season. Pretty excited about the year ahead -- Champ back, Posh with a year under his belt and some new size and shooting depth. We can make some noise in 2021-22.

I don't put too much weight on those comments about looking to play the three. He's been an outstanding team player since day one. He's an honest guy with maturity beyond his twenty years. Anderson has brought in players win next year. Future looks bright for Julian and for the Johnnies.

Curtesy start at SF, majority of minutes at the 4. Most of our depth will be 2-3, we’ll need him as the “4” to max us out.

JC and Posh are a great 1-2 punch.  The incoming talent seems has size, can play D, and can rebound.  Great to have.  I have no doubt 1 or 2 of them will turn into reliable scorers.

He needs to get to the beach every day and run in the sand. The absolute worst thing for him would be to come back, play SF, and look too slow to guard NBA players.

I told y’all not to worry /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Best team we’ve had from top-to-bottom in quite a long time and with a coaching staff that clearly knows not only what they’re doing but also how to actually coach in-game. Wish the season started tonight.

The foundation for a successful program has been laid. And, lead by a respectful and respected man. Rejoice, gentlemen.

Break out the Champagne and welcome back Julian!  Hopefully this turns the team from Moet to Dom Perignon.  I thought Julian's comments in the ESPN article were spot on.  Sometimes the "bitter" truth is difficult to accept for a 20 year old but he seems to have listened to what was said by BB professionals outside the SJU family.  CMA handled this very tactfully by supporting his player throughout the process.

Now the key to his future success is how well he implements the short comings to his game.  To the extent that he is successful the team will be successful.  I hope with the increased talent we will see fewer minutes/more energy as a result.  Last season he was pushed to give too many minutes/game and this should be remied this year with a few blows to heighten his on court performance.

One thing I think this team has on top of talent that past teams didn't have is maturity. I don't see a player on this team getting suspended.  They are all proven talent at previous teams, not unknown jucos. Even the freshman come in with a different aura. This is a Coach A team through and through. He has his dogs Let's Go... We Are....

Not to derail the thread, but since it was posted, 13-14 roster should have not only cakewalked to the dance but made noise.  That team was loaded and had depth everywhere, even with what was apparently already going on with Jordan in the PG slot.  You have two guys good enough to get drafted/play in the league on that roster in the forward spots, our 3rd all-time scorer as a SG, one of the best shot blockers in college basketball, plus Jordan, Greene and other depth pieces.

The thing to remember is so many new pieces and CMA longer learning curve. Having a strong start and not digging ourselves out of a while is beyond important. Let’s hope for a very productive summer
