Welcome back Julian!
In the recent past we were told LoVett was day to day and he never played again.
I can't imagine any scenario where Julian quits on his team and does it under the guise of an injury.

Hope under the CMA admin, they are straightforward. If Julian is hurt significantly as crutches and boot suggests, just admit it. But then Zach says he's fine. Which is true?
Why do you turn everything into a Conspiracy Theory??? The injury is not that bad and he may only be wearing a boot for protection and to keep weight off of his ankle.
I wouldn't say it's a conspiracy. In the recent past we were told LoVett was day to day and he never played again. But I heard from a reliable source close to the program tonight that he will be ready for game 1, so that makes me feel much better. And Maher, I haven't seen any of those but now I feel like I have to LOL...the last one is already factual.
1. Posters here said that Lovett was milking it.
2. No point at all playing Julian in an intra squad scrimmage. If CMA did it would be a ridiculously short sighted decision.
3. Colleges don't have to disclose injuries and more and more even in pro sports it's becoming more vague and hidden why players are out.

Me neither...but it's not that uncommon for teams to downplay injuries that turn out to be worse than they admitted. Just glad he is apparently not going to miss games.

The severity of LoVett's injury was not downplayed. It was his lack of commitment to the program that was downplayed.

When was the last time a player showed up in a boot and on crutches, and it turned out to be a minor injury? In all my years of playing and watching sports, I don't ever remember seeing that happen. Guess there's a first time for everything.

I’m not a doctor but I did stay at a Holiday Inn recently.
Boots and crutches are pretty standard right after injuries. I’ve seen players same game come out with both and nothing seriously be wrong. Crutches to stay off the foot ankle or knee and I think the boot reduces swelling.

Also let’s remember we technically don’t know how long he’s been hurt.

Maybe it's also because, as a long suffering SJU fan, I've learned to always expect the worst and hope for the best. It helps me keep what semblance of my sanity I still possess. I'll still take a boot and crutches(was it ever confirmed it was Julian?) as a not very good sign, and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

ESPN game tracker has JC with a 98.47% chance to survive his ankle injury so fear not my good man Monte! ;) :)

Are we sure it wasn’t for an endorsement deal? Nike crutches?

It happened last night in the Toledo football game. QB came out due to injury. While the game was still going, he was shown on the sideline on crutches and an ice pack wrapped around his knee. By the end of the game, the crutches and ice pack were gone and he was walking around normally.

Lovett was milking it so as to avoid any further injury, and derail his pro career. If I remember correctly. That's why everyone was pissed with him and his father.

Ice pack is one thing, but a boot?? Like I said, anything possible, but paint me skeptical. Can't remember the last time "where there's smoke, there's fire" did NOT apply to our program.

He (the QB) was also on crutches. That would probably be worse than a walking boot. But, agree with the "luck" of our program in recent decades. But, we have a professional staff in charge now. We need to get past our PTSD associated with previous regimes. Does that mean nothing bad will ever happen? Of course not. But, it does mean that not every situation is going to end up with the worst possible outcome regardless of reason.

Two things:

1) The over analysis is silly. It’s being reported as minor so likely is.

2) if it’s a worse sprain he should just need a little more time. Julian Champagnie a good player, but it’s not the same as missing a guy like Ponds, D’Lo or their equivalent at this point. We are much deeper than in the past and we will be more than fine considering all of our new additions at forward spots coupled with our returning guys. We can more than fill without him until he is healed up, especially early in the season ooc schedule.

Of course

Must have very cautious then if he was in a boot and on crutches
Let's hope that's the reason...because if he misses significant time that's a big blow. You know what's weird? Under Lavin we were almost injury free. I remember thinking that and then we caught the injury bug after his tenure was over.
Yeah, "almost" injury free. Like we lost Kennedy which prevented what I thought would be a long run in the tournament considering all those teams we beat.

Monte totally agree with you...as a fanbase we have every right to be skeptical after being burned so many times. But the source is pretty strong that told me it's very minor and should play 1st game. So we will see.
