We don’t deserve Ncaa bid

Mike M. Jr., I hope the bad taste leaves you soon, but I want us in, deserve it or not. Chris should have used the Post game presser to make our case, Boeheim has done it many times and it worked.

If we get into the Big Dance it adds something to our historic legacy; no asterisk saying that year we made it but shouldn't have.

Playing beyond the BET is fun, and I remember Syracuse's nice run after "they didn't deserve" to get in, so who knows?
There are 4 BE Teams playing tonight . During the season we won 4 games against 3 of those teams and if , Mike Stephens wasn’t so terrible on a obvious call , it would have been 5 Victories and a 3 seed instead of 7 and not having to play twice in 18 hours . Also too, no one wants to even consider that 2 of our best players missed 3 League games and that cost us 2 losses . Nor is anyone speculating , on a Board that is totally speculation , that Ponds and Heron might have been playing with
Chronic injuries for much of the 2 Nd half of the season . But , when criticism abounds , everyone wants to be a Critic . And , who amongst us can say that the illness and passing of Rod Mullin with a illness of some duration didn’t limit Chris ‘s Coaching and Recruiting ? He won’t take that path but , I can . Yes , we all wanted better results but , we had some great Victories and some bad losses , for sure . Let’s see what Sunday brings before we put the Balls away .
Every team and major Corporation gets bad breaks and has a sob story but they are all expected to produce. Bottom line we didn’t live up to expectations and if we were stocks we would be down 50% from December. Plenty of blame to go around. It was a total team swoon. There are no chances left and plenty of blame to go around. I hope by some small chance we get an invite and win a game or 2 but I am not holding my breath. This team makes it difficult to like them.
As a fan I just can’t settle for being competitive. Making the NCAA Tournament is the goal for this team and every St. John’s team that follows.

If we couldn’t do it with this team we are never going to do it under Mullin. And that’s a shame. But it is what it is. When I came to St. John’s as a student Shamorie Ponds was also a freshman and I thought for sure I’d see us make the dance in my 4 years. Unless we slip in on Sunday, We will go 0/4 in my four years as next year we don’t really stand a chance.

I was a more optimistic and positive poster this season because we were safely in the field for most of January and February. The collapse here at the end has really hurt. I had friends who I haven’t heard from in years texting me, excited for me after we beat Nova. All the talk was about what seed we were gonna get and hoping to stay off the 8-9 line.

Now we probably aren’t going at all. And that’s pathetic. I am a jets, Knicks, Mets and St. John’s fan. Which means as a fan I’m used to taking loss after loss. But this manages to be one of the most heartbreaking teams and seasons I’ve ever experienced.

Hopefully we get called on Sunday.

You know I feel inclined to leave it cause Justin Simon was the only St. John’s player that showed up last night
Then maybe replace Howard’s face with the other 4 starters as quadruplets B)

Changed it to the last hope for one of my teams to be successful

I looked at the Bracketmatrix. Even if we are 1 of the two last in. Who can pass us at this point except maybe Alabama and Xavier if they both win a game or two? Everyone has no games left, no?

If the MAC Tournament is won by any team other then Buffalo, that's one.

If West Virginia wins the Big 12 Tournament, that's 2.

I'm sure there are other possibilities.

i guess you are right. Very frustrating. They did it to themselves, but if they won that seton hall game they would have been the 3 seed in BE and 9-9 in conference play. 1 second and a bad ref is the difference.

I know there are would of could of scenarios but we all knew back then how important that game was.

Based on everything else this year, I am sure that we will not be revealed until the final bracket of the selection show. We won't even get to exhale until all brackets are released. Then when the printouts come out we will not be on any of them because we will be in a play in game and our line will read "Play in Winner". It will be as if we never appeared. Ugh!

Well isn't that a real shame? I'd really feel for these quitters if they got left out.
Anyone gonna tell me they didn't quit? That 23-2 Marq run tells me they did.
SJU is better then that, so I don't want to hear it.

If they make it the great, if not? then I'm good

Read it and weep. We are the second to last team in. If there’s just one or two more bid stealers we are gone.
Hey Jack.. whatever it is, it is. I do know this team gave us a lot of good moments, a lot of reasons to cheer, and really hope in having a successful campaign.

You, and even guys like Zaun, were not following the program in the dark days of the Norm era. In the heyday of the program I would get my season tickets and sort out the easy non conference wins from the super competitive packed house encounters with Georgetown, UCONN, Syracuse, Villanova, and a host of others. If i missed a St. Francis game, so what back then? It was only a matter of whetehr we would win by 30, 40, 50 points or more.

Then the Norm days arrived. I actually began to look forward to the games against Fordham, Stony Brook, or weaker teams because there was hope we could win those. Big East conference games against ranked opponents? Forget it - there was no chance of winning those. I know it may not align with our conference records then, but i'm guessing the games we were winning in conference were against the weak underbelly of the big East, with a rare win sprinkled in against better competition.

This season we had every reason to believe that every game home and away, was winnable. Ok, we didn't get to where we wanted to go, and I can tell you honestly I had the worst nights sleep in a long time and woke up feeling sick, but this has been a competitive season. Not good enough - not even close. But I'm not going to start blaming anyone as if I deserved better. I do know that no matter where I was, even mobile, I'd be glued to a TV set, looking at Fox or CBS or ESPN on my mobile, and rearranging social plans to see our guys in person.

Successful season, no. Competitive, and worthy of our attention? For me yes, and I'm thankful for that.

Feel your own way about it, lick your wounds, take some Pepto Bismol (which I think I need today). But the only thing that can really change about this season is your perspective. The hard part for me is my head convincing my stomach its not so bad. If Selection Sunday has a silent sting to it, that will hurt too. But life will go on, and I'll be back in my season tix next season. So will you.
And moments where they got bitch slapped bad

Think about it. Do you really think our guys showed up to be embarrassed on their home court? Do you really think Ponds wanted Howard to outclass him in every way? I don't buy that stuff about quitters. These kids knew they were playing for a bid and they just collectively fell apart with not one guy able to break through and get us going.

But quitters? Not in my book

It just bothers me that it happened so damn quick.
Down 12 at the half, cut it to 6 at the under 16, then 5minutes later we're down 27????
WTF is that bs. That's the reason I gotta watch with giving a crap anymore.
Better for my blood pressure.

The sentiment of the title goes for pretty much every year of the tournament as well. In other years we really, really wouldn't deserve it. This year we may still squeak in. But that still doesn't mean we deserve it. It just means there are a ton more excruciatingly flawed teams than usual.

If we squeak in, pray for a miracle run. We win championship. Mullin likely retires on top. Job seems super appealing to a young guy who'll stay 30 years, 22 of which will be tournament appearances and eight will be NIT. Everyone is happy and my twilight years are spent rooting for a well-coached team that my grandkids will root for.

If we win the championship I think I may have to retire on top and never watch a St. John’s game ever again... it’ll never get better
PIcked up a bunch of pricey seats on Stubhub yesterday morning for this game. Under normal circumstances would have stayed for at least part of the second game. After the way we played over the last 15 minutes of the game, it was so repulsive to consider staying and watching any more basketball, kind of like staying in a restaurant after you got food poisoning.

We have the most enigmatic team. The good thing is we have 5 starters who can shoot from 3. The bad thing is we have 5 starters who shoot from three. Good shooting ignites everything for us, and without it, an undersized team finds it hard to attack the basket because teams just pack it in.

Funny, after we beat DePaul, overwhelming consensus was that we are in. I was doubtful but I'll go with consensus.

Wouldn't be at all surprised or shocked if we not only won a game, but if we got through the first weekend. Also not surprised if we got handed our lunch by a very average team in game 1.
I felt same way and left after our game. Didn’t want to listen any longer to MQ, SH, GT fans talking about bad we were.

I firmly believe we will play in the post season but it will be the NIT.

I don't think any of our players think they are NCAA ready or worthy. Ponds seemed embarrassed by the loss. As a team, we showed we are no better than the 5th best team in a down year and the Big East will not get more 3 or 4 bids. Villanova, Seton Hall, Marquette, Xavier are all better teams and worthy of bids. If, and that's a big if, the players have not checked out mentally, they could win a game but not more than that given the body language and performance against Marquette.

What better indication of us being middle of the pack in that we could beat anyone in the conference and lose to anyone also.

You play an entire season to see where you stand. A lot of teams have injuries and transfers. Here is where we are, an average team in a balanced high profile conference.
