Old timers like myself find the embarrassing losses at MSG all year hard to figure out. I wouldn't say the team quits but they certainly accept defeat very easily. SJU teams in the past would show a lot more fight than allowing the opposition to shoot threes when up by 30 in MSG.
The old SJU teams were comprised of almost all players from NYC high schools who played with a chip on their shoulder. There were a few fights but players like Kevin Williams , Anthony Glover , Ron Artest played with a passion that the current SJU players don't have and that passion could spread over the whole roster.
The current team is a group of very nice men who didn't play in NYC school yards growing up and play more like they are from California and other parts of the country which they are. Watching Seton Hall play , I get the idea they are a less talented group than SJU but play with much more passion.
Even one tough player on SJU's roster could have made a big difference this year .
